RE: Software Gurus (esp XP) I need yer help again! My PC is FUBAR`d
Something the registry or more likely Hardware abstract layer (don`t ask) may be referenced to something on that external drive. Plug it back in, power up if needed and try again. Put it back in the same socket it was in before. Then try booting the PC.

RE: Office/home networking quandry (friend`s problem)
Crapit, I`ll get me coat. Till then I`ll look for a better link.
Link I first posted was for a home hub, looking for the business one is a bit more complex.
A google search for "port forwarding bt business hub" brings up plenty of results. I haven`t played with any BT kit for years so am totally in the dark as to what is configurable in the router. It should be quite easy with a business router, certainly the old Dreyteks I used to play with were quite easy and that was a decade or more ago. Things are probably much more simple now.
If it was me I`d log onto the router as admin and see what was there, it may be sat right there in plain sight.

RE: ITV`s Magic Numbers
Just a vehicle for putting the incredibly average Mr Mulhern on our tellies. His agent must be brilliant coz he damn well ain`t.

RE: What is the fastest you have driven a car/ bike at?
130 in a mates Mazda something, 135 in my Cooper S. But as a passenger I did very close to 200 in my dads friends GT40 Mirage back in the early seventies. He took me round Wroughton airdrome of few times. Only felt really fast at the corners.

The Scottish government claimed there was a `firm consensus` among medical experts that he would die within 12 weeks.
Next time you hear a consensus of experts agree about something you`ll know what that is really worth.

RE: So, you`re a fading 80`s pop star. The Playboy shoot did nothing and you want to break into movi
Strangely Mega-Piranha also has a fading 80`s pop star in it. Tiffany of all people.
Has she done the decent thing and got her norks out aswell?

RE: Decent (free) remote desktop software..
MS have a new one out, Live.mesh. Had to remote my mums PC a few times last week and I put this on hers. If you`ve got a hotmail account, that`s all you need to get it.

RE: Cable/Splitter needed.
Thank you.
"Hey, if love is bilnd, how come lingerie is so popular?" Cochrane. P673 TNG.
Cable/Splitter needed.
Son-in-law having finished with his Gf has bought home his PS3. Problem is his monitor has 1 dvi for his PC and 1 HDMI which his 360 is plugged into. All I ever get on searches are splitters etc to play multiple monitors on one output device. The exact opposite to what we need. Surely this is a common need and I`m being dense and using daft search queries!
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

One thing caught my eye.

Baby-faced Alfie, who is 13 but looks more like eight
The shy lad, whose voice has not yet broken
So b*lls not dropped, no testosterone, etc. etc. not likely to be a dad then really.

RE: problem with pc?
Check that you have the front ports connected correctly. You normally screw that up :D
RE: Anybody Watch Sh*tkickers.... sorry Bonekickers Tonight?
I`ve been calling it Sh*tkickers too, since before it aired. :D Now I`ve watched it I don`t bother with kickers at the end, it`s just Sh*t.
RE: Changing page file size?
Try running pagedefrag, it might help. It`s no use having a huge pagefile if it`s in hundreds of pieces.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897426.aspx
I always put the unzipped folder in C:\program Files, you have to navigate to it manually as it doesn`t have an installer. It can take a very long time and runs on reboot. Just as long as there is still hard drive activity it`s still working. Be prepared for an hour or more if it`s very fragmented. I have mine set to run at each boot which stops it ever being a problem.
I once worked on a very unstable machine with a 768Mb pagefile in just over 1500 fragments, average size 500Kb, poor PC couldn`t do anything without crashing, one run of pagedefrag and it was fixed.
RE: So does anyone belive this global warming claptrap?
After 9/11 the lack of planes led to the sky clearing as there were no vapour trails. This led to it being a deeper blue and a temperature increase as more sunlight made it to the ground rather than being reflected away by the diffuse vapour trails. :B
Planes are keeping the planet cooler.
Oh and global warming actually stopped in 1998 Linky
You have to remove the dvdreviewer frame for the page to display for some reason.

RE: BEKO 32WLK530HID Silver 32 inch LCD TV only £100 delivered
Just been into my HSBC branch and they have said with no fuss at all that I am covered by the Direct Debit Indemnity and that the money will be back in my account in 2 days.
Wow, I feel really releived. I just hope it`s this easy for everyone else.
p.s. Buy with Paypal again? I don`t think so.
RE: BEKO 32WLK530HID Silver 32 inch LCD TV only £100 delivered
Sucked in also. Ordered one as an xmas pressie for one of my wifes sons. Then other son ordered one for himself. It`s him I really feel sorry for.
My paypal payment comes from my bank account via Direct Debit. Anyone got any ideas whether this is covered by the direct debit guarantee?
I`ve been shopping online for 10 years+ Never been had before, feeling quite stupid now. For most of the time I`ve dealt with a small number of companies and never ever have bought from an unknown before. I think this is the problem with paypal and Google checkout. You see it listed as a payment option and it gives you (well me) a false sense of security. I`ll not be using either as any sign of trust again. If I use them again.

Nice one, I`m using my increasingly cranky old epson r300 and it`s being such a nightmare that this couldn`t be more timely.
