RE: Philips DVDR 890 Hack problems
Hi, I did try playing a R1 disc after entering the code and pressing play on the remote without turning off the player but no luck. I do have a One For All URC-7550 but can`t get it to operate the DVDR. I may have to get the thing chipped but not too keen on the idea.
Philips DVDR 890 Hack problems
Well, it seems that half the people say you can use the Philip`s Remote and half say you have to a One-For-All. I am trying to use the Philips Remote and I can get as far as getting the 9 dashes up and typing in the 12 digit code 121 212 005 255 and Powering Off via the remote. When I then switch back on after 10 seconds or so, it`s still only region 2.I have tried this on two machines (my friend bought one in December as well) without success. The DVD-750 hack on this site says `Press Play button on Player` this is a mistake as you have to use the Remote Play button. If some one out there has bought this model in the last few weeks and has made this hack work, please contact me, Thanks.
RE: Philips DVDR 890 problems
Hello, I tried it again without any success. This is exactly what I did: 1, Switch machine on and the DVD Player display says `NO DISC - BBC1` 2, Key `PLAY` on the Philips Remote followed by 159. 3, The display then has 9 dashes and I type in 121 212 005 255 followed by pressing PLAY on the Remote. The display now has gone back to `NO DISC BBC1` 4, I then turn off the player by pressing `STANDBY` on the Philips Remote. The machine switches off and I count to 10 or 11 or 12 I have tried them all. I then switch the player on and insert a region 1 disc and it comes up and says wrong region for this player. I have tried this about twenty times so far, as stated in my first message I could make a R1 only but not multi. HELP!
RE: Philips DVDR 890 problems
Hi thanks for the reply, Yes, I did change the Remote to player and no I used the Philips remote which I have been told is correct. The only One-For-All I have is the URC-7550. I don`t think that this is the problem as the Philips remote will change it to R1 only but not multi region.

Philips DVDR 890 problems
Hi, I am having problems making my Philips DVDR 890 Multi Regional. I can get the machine to play R1 only by typing in 121 212 005 001. This is after keying Play and 1 5 9 where I get 9 dashes (not 11 as on this site). If I key in 222 222 005 255 nothing seems to change it`s still just region 2. The same goes for 121 212 005 255.. When I did get the machine to R1 only I had type in the same number but with a `2` instead of a `1` at the end to get it back to Region 2 again.
