Philips DVDR 890 Hack problems

John Fry (Harmless) posted this on Sunday, 19th January 2003, 15:37

Well, it seems that half the people say you can use the Philip`s Remote and half say you have to a One-For-All. I am trying to use the Philips Remote and I can get as far as getting the 9 dashes up and typing in the 12 digit code 121 212 005 255 and Powering Off via the remote. When I then switch back on after 10 seconds or so, it`s still only region 2.I have tried this on two machines (my friend bought one in December as well) without success. The DVD-750 hack on this site says `Press Play button on Player` this is a mistake as you have to use the Remote Play button. If some one out there has bought this model in the last few weeks and has made this hack work, please contact me, Thanks.

after entering the code try pressing eject on the dvd player and inserting a region 1 or 3 disc press close on the dvd and it may play directly, my 880 did. ian.

I was using an all for one 6 though, no. urc 7562. with a down load from o.f.all to operate this player.

Hi, I did try playing a R1 disc after entering the code and pressing play on the remote without turning off the player but no luck. I do have a One For All URC-7550 but can`t get it to operate the DVDR. I may have to get the thing chipped but not too keen on the idea.
