RE: Bol bring back DVD/Videos Free Delivery

The DVD shop of BOL is managed by videodirect.co.uk which is in fact choicedirect.co.uk. You can find exactly the same Dvd on choicedirect.co.uk except that they are at least £2 cheaper. However, the good point for videodirect.co.uk is that they offer a free worlwide delivery (understand a mandatory £2 pounds delivery...).

RE: HMV in-store Box Sets

Cape Fear old + new movies at filmsfirst.net for £7.99.
You have to use the search function to find it. Maybe it is out of stock.

£2 off on many titles at splash, many titles at £4.66-£6!!!

Very good prices for one week only, however I had quite a bad experience with their delivery times...

I have bought a few titles there... hopefully I will receive them all this time.

RE: Films First

I am definetely for more 4.95 pounds titles. However, you should try (if possible) to add more titles like Perfect Storm and Proof of Life because most of the Warner titles you offer have been already available for some time at choice direct (for a slightly more expensive price that is 6 pounds) .

Regarding, ex-rentals, if you can beat movie trak with lower prices, I will certainly go for it.

RE: www.filmsfirst.net

Thanks Gary, got my free spiderman. beside that I have made already my first purchase which was delivered quickly in two days.

Otherwise, judging by some feedbacks about your website in this forum, I think really you should start getting rid of the Flash parts.

RE: www.filmsfirst.net

Thanks Gary!

I really hope that all our suggestions will be useful to filmfirst.
Sent my email around 5PM using email account e_____d[at].moc.oohay

RE: www.filmsfirst.net

I think to become a good web retailer, you have to look at the best existing retailers and do slightly better (lower prices is an instant win) to attract quickly a first batch of customers.

For instance let`s look at Play:
- wides selection of titles
- huges stocks
- accurate titles descriptions (especially regarding the sound and video)
- consistent delivery times
- cheaper than most sites with frequent sales/bargains
- good customer support (100% success rate to talk to a human when calling their phone number)
- simple but efficient web site.

Actually, if you allow me, I think this last point is that is one of your weakness at the moment. You web site looks nice but your usage of the technology Flash instead of pure HTML may play against you:
- flash is not setup on all Browsers and therefore lots of people may not be able to get to your website
- likewise lots of people disable Flash because this technology is used a lot on the Web to create some very annoying ads.
- editing Flash code is longer/more complex/more expensive than editing html and therefore it may be harder for you to set up quickly an expected sale to face the competition
- last but not least, since Flash offers more possibilities and a different look and feel than HTML, it is very easy to lose one customer because it is not very obvious what is clickable and what is not.

Anyway, I wish the best, a new retailer is always a good news for the DVD fans.

3 MGM Titles (among 130) for £20 at Play

This bargain is not yet mentioned on the Web site (on the 11th of january). It can be quite a good deal since lots of MGM Titles on the web site are at £12.50.
