RE: "How often do you come..............
2 or 3 times a day while at work but not at all at the weekend. Quite the opposite to my home life!
ARGOS DVD Player £48.75
Argos have got a special offer of £48.75 for an Alba DVD player.
Anyone know if they are any good or if there is something better for this sort of money?
set top box
Can anyone recommend a good set top box for freeview stuff?
They all seem to be around £100 so does anyone know of anywhere cheap?
I`d like one with a remote control to add to my collection and if possible audio out point so I can wire it up to my amp.
Cheers
Rick
Freeview set top box
Anyone know if I can get digital radio via a freeview set top box?
Mainly interested in Five live footie commentary and think I might as well have some extra tv channels rather than paying for a digital radio for just one station

RE: Acoustic Solutions in Argos - worth it or are they crap?
Send an email on the ask Westy link on this site. I asked a similar question about a different make and his reply was spot on, so much so I`ve bought the company, ok just the speakers but he knows what he`s talking about.
Also, its Argos - if they`re crap take them back and try a different one and keep going till you get what you want.
Problem with Argos is they pass any returns back to the manufacturer which is tough on the manufacturer but then they choose to deal with Argos knowing this happens.

RE: looking to buy first home cinema kit
Just remembered. Dixons have the digi theatre at £250ish which gets good reviews for the money, again an all in one package with smallish speakers.
Perhaps someone reading this could tell you whether you could hook up your existing speakers to power the front two?
RE: looking to buy first home cinema kit
The Sony Babe at £220 is an all in one package to bolt onto your dvd and gets reasonable reviews.
That said I haven`t bought one as my budget was £500 which got me an AEGO p5 but I`m not sure if the extra money is worth it as I`ll never know just how good the Sony would have been.
I`d endorse what the other guy says about cables and extra costs, made the mistake of telling my wife I`d spent £70 on cables and she immediately went out shopping herself to redress the balance.
RE: Home Cinemas in a box??? Are they really worth it???
I`m in the same boat as you. All the stuff I`ve read points to the digitheatre being better but I do prefer the Sony name (for no good reason at all).
I`ve decided to wait 6 months to see if the price of the AEGO P5 falls from £480 and also keep saving as its a decoder and speakers plus the sound will be sufficiently good for my stereo so I can do away with the stereos speakers. Its a bugger having to wait though.
RE: Anyone any experience with Amazon ?
I ordered quite a bit of stuff from them in November, they were still advertising it for delivery before xmas until 19 December. I got mine on 2nd Jan and boy did I have to go off on one before they admitted they had mucked up.
Shame really as I`ve had no problems before.
RE: Difference between Dolby Surround Pro Logic 2 and DTS
Just call me Mondeo Man.
Budget is up to £480 as this gets me the AEGO P5 set up with the decoder in it but it doesn`t do DDPRL2.
My worry is my CD`s Videos and Nicam telly would sound better if I bought something that supported DDPRL2.
Thanks for your advise though. I`m off to try google as a search engine.
HiFi Bitz, Unbeatable or AV Land - any clues which is best?
Hi Fi Bitz and Unbeatable are same price within a tenner and AV Land say they will beat any price.
Anyone tested them out?
Anyone had none delivery as I`ll steer clear of them.
Difference between Dolby Surround Pro Logic 2 and DTS
Will I notice any difference between the two?
Is Pro Logic 2 something to do with making TV and stereo sound like surround sound?
If I get a home cinema package that doesn`t have Pro Logic 2 but does have DTS will I still get the surround sound style from stereo music?
Hope someone out there knows.
which home cinema system?
Anyone tried the Acoustic Energy AEGO P5?
Any alternative suggestions for an easy set up and I don`t need many toys on it, just a good sound without messing about
Decoder and speaker advise
I have a toshiba 220 DVD but want to add a speaker package so I need speakers and a decoder for the dolby DTS stuff.
Any advise on what to get? I like the price of the Sony Babe system but am worried it isn`t powerful enough (room size 5m by 3m).
I really like the Aego P5 reviewed on here and can get an ex demo model cheaper at £430. Is it worth the extra debt on my credit card?
Any clues or alternatives? My budget is nearer £200 but can go to £430 if its genuinely worth it.
