Proline Plays Patriot
My copy of the Patriot arrived today after being delayed. I stuck it in my Proline 1000 just to see if there was any hope at all that it would play. Unforunately, the RCE screen presented itself. However....
There are probably people who already know this but on the RCE screen, press the "access" button once. The hand icon should appear along with the shuffle icon above it. press play and waa laa. A random title will play and you won`t be able to go to any specific title but if you press the "next" button ("prev" to go back") on the remote you can cycle through the titles (in a random order though). ;-)
As you may notice with the hand icon on selecting shuffle it probably shouldn`t have been allowed but it is. The programmed playback function is selectable but doesn`t work.
To anyone who has a proline and The Patriot, please reply to this post if you have different results because as with people who are lucky enough to play it straight off this might be just a bug with the firmware I have.

RE: Regional Coding Enhanced - Player Problems Expected
When I first read about RCE I thought that it was something that would affect all players, but after reading this it looks as though Warner and Columbia Tristar are just trying to get the "smart disc" code set as a standard for all R1 movies. Afterall if a R1 dvd has the code there`s never anything on the box saying so. If that`s the case they could possibly make abit of money from this.
So if it happens, we`ll just have to bin our region free players and buy hackable region specific ones.
RCE won`t solve a thing, just slow things down for a while then everything will eventually pick up again.
RE: PROLINE DVD1000 Hack: Is multi-region feature future proof or Region 0?
The hack sets the player to region 0, as if you try it, you`ll be able to play any of your region 2 dvds without returning it to region 2 only. The only concern brought about is the issue of "smart dvds" which should refuse to play. All the region 1 dvd movies I`ve bought since I got my player have had no problems and I haven`t read about any problems other people might be having, so I guess you should be alright with any of the latest releases.
However, if anyone knows otherwise and/or knows of a site which lists any smart dvds please reply to this. If I do come across any I might have to consider buying a new player which can switch to a default of region 1.
