PROLINE DVD1000 Hack: Is multi-region feature future proof or Region 0?

doghouse (Harmless) posted this on Saturday, 7th October 2000, 17:01

I have purchased a Proline DVD1000 player yesterday and the multi-region hack from the remote works fine.
I was wondering, is the hack just putting the player into
"Region 0" mode, allowing all disks to play?, or is it much "better" than that?

Are there any problems with any region 1 titles on this player?

Thanks

The hack sets the player to region 0, as if you try it, you`ll be able to play any of your region 2 dvds without returning it to region 2 only. The only concern brought about is the issue of "smart dvds" which should refuse to play. All the region 1 dvd movies I`ve bought since I got my player have had no problems and I haven`t read about any problems other people might be having, so I guess you should be alright with any of the latest releases.

However, if anyone knows otherwise and/or knows of a site which lists any smart dvds please reply to this. If I do come across any I might have to consider buying a new player which can switch to a default of region 1.

once the hacks in place does it play both region 1 & 2 or do you have to run it each time you swap region disks. i`m looking for a hack that makes it automatic once in place? does one exist.

The proline is NOT a region 0 hack .... all this misinformation is crazy.... if it were a region 0 hack then half of the disney releases would not play !!

It`s an auto region hack .... otherwise Disney would not play .... is the auto remote hack good enough to defeat the RCE disk "The Patroit" ?? the answer is probabily yes but cant say for sure ... the Wharefdale 750 which has the same mpeg board will play the patriot so if it doesnt work on the proline then it`s down to the firmware

My Proline responds to 0,1,2,3, Play for Multi-Region and Zoom,Return for R2 only.

As far as firmware is concerned, I am led to believe that the relevent details are:

Proline DVD1000
Rev. PDF25_1116_1_3
C/S 3E51 - U1

let`s hope (for my sake) that this is RCE-proof.

Darrell.

Just bought High Fidelity on Region 1 and it skips straight to the FBI copyright warning at chapter 28 of the disk, disabling all buttons and requiring a power off to open the disk drawer. All my other R1 disks work ok, is there any reason why this one doesn`t work?
