TV Compatibility with Region 1 disks

I`m a complete novice at this so would greatly appreciate some help and advice.

I`ve purchased a Wharfedale 750s from Tesco which I want to be able to play Region 1 DVDs on as I`m off to USA in a couple of weeks and would like to stock up. I have a nine year old Sharp TV and after reading some comments in mags I`m concerned that this might not be able to support the NTSC format that region 1 is stored in. Am I right to be concerned or have I got the wrong end of the stick with this?

RE: Wharfedale 750s region 1 hack

I tried the 750s hack you suggested but the player didn`t do anything - any other suggestions?
