dvdr discs

I want to transfer VHS tapes onto disc. Can anyone recommend any brand of DVDR discs there seems to be loads to chose from. I have a panasonic 50 DVD recorder and I was going to use the DVDR discs as they are cheaper than the DVD ram discs.

I am having exactly the same problem. I biught mine 2 weeks ago in order to watch region 1 dvds and I can`t get to the version screen no matter how many times I try. Its maddening as I`ve got 6 region 1 dvds I can`t watch. :(

I too had this problem and eventually it stopped playing discs altogether. I sent it back and was told it was unrepairable. I have since bought a panasonic E50
