RE: sony HTDW 750
Sony HTBE1 is only 105w, so I wouldn`t expect too much sound or bass, it really depends on the size of the room you`ll be watching it in! (but I wouldn`t go for it, cos you`ll be looking to upgrade in no time)
The 740 is 5 times 80w same as the 750, but only has a 50w sub, whereas the 750 has a 100w sub. Again it is down to you, you also get a radio tuner with the 750, but I didn`t give a sh*t about that and never use it, may do soon though!
I just got the 750 cos I like power, and it certainly p***es off my scumbag neighbour at only 30-40% of its power, hence, I`m a happy Sony customer :)
The choice is yours but the 740 sounds neat, It would have done me, but I got the 750 cos I don`t want to upgrade for a long time, but having the unit now, I can`t get a more powerfull one in my place - i`d like to keep my current windows :) - and I should end up having and using it to old age.
As Graham say`s... The decision is yours!
Ohhh, almost forgot, as long as your DVD Player has a coax output, then you`ll be fine, you`ll get the Coax lead with the Theatre system you buy. Don`t bother with Optical, I couldn`t spot any difference between the two leads.

RE: sony HTDW 750
I got the 750 and it`s awsome... I had a bit of a problem with a center speaker speach crackle, but that just seems to be certain DVD movies, like Anger Management and Beverly Hills Cop.
The sound is loud 5 times 80w and a 100w sub, it rumbles my front room at about 54 on the volume bar, and it can go all the way up to 70 (I wouldn`t advise going that high).
I have the sub knob switch to about 40% and I get neighbour complaints cos my windows are vibrating and my metal chairs are popping up and down.
So power wise, you`ll have no problem, the sound is crisp, especially DTS movies, so quiet, yet so, so basey!
Music sounds good through it and all those old Stereo videos get a re-run via Dolby Digital 5.1. For example I watched an old Power Rangers: Green with Evil video tape and I heard Stereo sounds from the rear speakers, I was amazed.
So, all I can say really is that it is good.
If you want anymore info just ask, bye.
RE: Fan of the The Hulk (2003)
Exactly, I didn`t even read one comic of Hulk, so why not give people the thing that they are used too, the film was like an Alien to me, but I guess comic book fans were chuffed, but I will never ever add it to my DVD collection... okay maybe £5 in the bargain bin.
RE: Soul Caliber 2, which version GC or Xbox
lol makes me glad I`m not buying this at all. I have SC1 on Dreamcast, and for those out there that have the original and thinking of getting number 2... don`t. Nothing at all has changed, same gameplay and no real visual improvements, which is kinda naff, seeing as there has been a 4 year gap between the two!
RE: Pirates of the Carribean R1 DVD (2 discs) released 2 December 2003
Yep, already pre-oredered this. Great film, I was dragged to the cinema to see it as I didn`t like the look of the Trailer, but I was suprised. Depp owns the film.
RE: Fan of the The Hulk (2003)
I don`t know how anyone enjoyed this movie. Okay, I know people have different tastes, but boy, was this film boring. I had to chew loudly on my popcorn to stay awake!
The film has no relation to the original TV series, apart from some guy called Bruce (son of David) getting the same Gamma radiation. Yet no mentioning of David being the hulk?
The actual film moves at a snails pace, and the visual effects would only empress the youngest of children!
If you haven`t seen the movie, try and see it before buying the DVD!
Dolby 5.1 crackle center speaker, any advice?
I just purchased a SONY HTDDW750 Home Theatre Kit, it is a great piece of kit, but with a little nag that I need help with.
While I was watching Beverly Hills Cop (R2) in Dolby Digital 5.1 - I noticed whenever there was speach by itself, I could hear a very faint crackle all the time from the center speaker as if there was interference in the speach. I thought, maybe it was the film, but I just received Anger Management on R1 and it does the same thing through the center speaker. It is weird `cos I watched Rush Hour 2 in DTS and Star Wars Ep 1 in 5.1 and they seemed fine in the center speaker with no interference. I don`t think the machine is faulty at all, it can`t be it`s brand new, but what can I do... any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
RE: DTS and 5.1? Desperate for help, may sound like a stupid question for some!!
Thanks a lot for your help, it took me 4 hours on the internet to get a decent reply from somewhere. I`ll visit more often lol
Thanks again.
DTS and 5.1? Desperate for help, may sound like a stupid question for some!!
Hi all,
I am waiting for my SONY HTDDW750 Home Theatre Kit to be delivered. It say`s on the below link that it`s dts and pro logic 2 and something else to which i don`t understand, but what I`d like to know is if it is capable of playing Dolby Digital 5.1?
Or do I have to buy a different unit for Dolby Digital 5.1?

Any help would be fantastic and much appreciated. Thank you!
