RE: Scan DVD Player Any Good ??

I`ve had three Scan SC-2000 machines in less than as many weeks.
Although the features listed on the machines is impressive and very attractive I have found that the build quality and reliability is extremely bad.
My first SC-2000 out of the box would simply not play DVD`s - of any region! It would play audio CD`s and MP3 Discs but that`s it.
One "Drop and Pick" later the second machine played DVD`s sure enough - unfortunately all the pictures had a heavy blue tint ( and I mean BLUE - no other colours were visible) when viewing through the RGB option via SCART. Composite seemed OK but RGB was useless.
Another Drop and Pick later I got my third machine (Yes - I *actually* was prepared to try a third - the spec seemed so good)
I had this delivered to work and tested it thoroughly - it seemed perfect.
I got the machine home and watched a film for approx 1 hour when everything went badly wrong. The picture froze, I couldn`t unfreeze it and when I eventually powered off and then back on, the machine would not recognise the disc.
I tried several more discs in the machine just to be absolutely sure but indeed it, like the first one, had given up the ghost.
So that`s it. It`s going back to Scan and I`m getting a refund.

I have to say that Scan have been helpful in sending replacements very quickly and did not put up a struggle when I asked for a refund.
However their telephone system is absolutely appaling - it takes an age to get through and the automated response system they have needs a bomb under it.

I`m looking for another player now and I think I`m going to go for a well known brand this time.
I`ve had enough of this new brand "lottery".

RE: Mico A980 DVD player rocks!!!

Hi,
I`ve had two of these buggers in the last two weeks and they have both gone back to Unbeatable.co.uk and I`ve settled for a refund in the end.
This first had lots of noise on screen eventually making the picture unwatchable - coloured "sparks" and lines flashed across the screen - awful!
The second was a much better picture but unfortunately still a bit noisy but what finally did was when I tried to eject the disc the tray came out but the disc didn`t! I had to fish it out several times by hand.
Enough`s enough. Refund.

Sounds like you got the good one though.
Hope it works out for you.

Cheers
