Editing +RW files

Does anyone know of any software that can be used to edit files on +RW discs. To remove adverts etc.

Editing video files

Does anyone know of any sofware which would allow me to edit video files eg remove adverts etc. The stuff I have only edits Avi`s & Mpegs - I want to edit videos comprised of VOB files etc.

RE: Disc compatibility

Sorry I meant -R

RE: DVD+R Discs

Valuemedia are competitive and have more choice than Bigpockets

Disc compatibility

I have a Sony GX3 and find it annoying that I can only use the edit features (split / A-B erase etc) with -RW discs formated in VR mode. >:(

These discs even when finalised will not play in any other player even another sony DVD player.

I may have to record onto +R and edit via PC. Does anyone know of any software for editing video files VOB etc.

RE: Sony RDR-GX3 - Which Discs to use

Hi

Like you I have just purchased a GX3. I bought a batch of Hewlett Packard discs from PC world which were fine. I have also had success with Verbatim & Richo.

I find it frustrating that the Sony will only allow you to edit -RW discs and not +RW as the latter are more compatible with other players.

RE: a couple of questions on the philips dvdr70.....

Hi

My advice is to avoid Phillips like the plague. I had a R880 which was nothing but trouble and if you check out the hardware forum; a lot of people have had similar problems. I have just ordered a Sony GX3.

For discs check out:-

RE: how do make a dvd that plays in a dvd player?

Hi James

Suggest you try latest version DVDx copy from 321 studios, this is simple, works well and auto compresses with minimal quality loss. I have used this for Lord of the Rings 2 towers and cannot percieve any quality loss due to compression. I think it costs around £35 and is downloadable.

RE: DVD Burning software..

Hi John

Not sure about the technicalities of what your trying to do, but Nero has a specific facility to create video DVD`s using drag and drop. This has worked fine for me and the discs play in a variety of players no problem. Version 6 of Nero is much improved & has many functions / facilities including auto backup.

Phillips DVD / Sony GX3

I was interested in the comments made about the poor reliability of Phillips DVD recorders. I have a R880 which I am ditching in favour of a Sony GX3! >:(
I wonder why the Phillips machine was unreliable, is it due to poor design or Quality control or is the technology inherently unstable / fragile.
Would appreciate anyone`s thoughts regarding the reliability of Sony DVD recorders
