RE: Monsters vs Aliens - 3d, or not 3d...?
so miikeyblue82, I`m in similar position, my boy loves Cars dvd and kung fu panda, but didn`t like Shrek 3d DVD, was it worth the extra cash and did the 3D POP like its supposed to (everything I`ve read has said its impressive)
RE: So F***ED off with Halo 3!
I`m doing it on Heroric and struggling mid way thorugh level 2 or 3, and dieing loads, but its rewarding when you clear a tricky patch, noticed the checkpoints seem close together whihc is helpful, just wish I didn`t keep pressing x to reload and dropping my gadget.
If your disc is borked I`d get it swapped out asap.
Sp might me quick and shortlived, but I haven`t ventured on line with it yet, loads still to do.

RE: 4x500ml coke = FIFA 07 game
My football arrived today so thanks to the OP, fingers crossed for the game, did everyone go for the 360 version, if its 2000 games across the 4 formats PS2, DS, 360 and PSP, I could be unlucky.

RE: Xbox 360 HD-DVD player - Where can I buy it from???
£99 pounds in Gamestation is the format looking any more likely to be victorious?
Would those that have brought one do it again?
wheres the best place for HD-DVD`s for £13 as mentioned earlier?
Thanks
Tony
RE: go on then. the official halo 3 beta thread...
Played a few ranked matches, died lots, no real change there, but didn`t like that I couldn`t hear the otherplayers apart form the lobby, experience felt empty really.
Looks good
Bubble shield nice
Man cannon is fun.
Hope theres a single player game worth having this time.
Fingers crossed

RE: XBox 360 HDDVD Drive for £99.99 + £3.99 P&P
Saw one of these reduced in Gamestation to day at £99, just with media remote no King Kong
The missus rolled her eyes in the `go on then guess it`s inevertible` way which was promising, :) but then we walked into Game, HMV and Blockbuster (admitedly Kettering is a small town) and all there was, were Blu-Ray discs.
So the missus asks if its on the way out then?
Harry Knowles on aint-it-cool-news just recently jumped in with HD-DVD in the US, I`m tempted to think that Blu-rays recent sucess is due to the Casino royale offer with the PS3 but the local shops didn`t fill me with confidence. Apparently Porn is on the HD-DVD side, its cheaper cost of drives is lower, and in the Beetamax/VHS battle the technically superior Beeta lost to VHS partialy due to cost & porn. Im not interested in smut, but its a powerful industry and indicator.
Also I have a HDMI upscaling DVD player, only have a 720P HD ready TV and have Virgin V+ connected with HDMI, I understand it will be 3 times better than normal DVD, but I`m not sure the wow factor will be there, and the last thing I would need is the missus telling me she can`t spot what all the fuss was about.
I have heard the HD-DVD can have PIP overlays and the menus are technically clever, any idear which is the most impressive disc for technical extras?
Sorry to hijack the tread a bit, but I could do with some support and persasive ammunition.

RE: Run out of games to play. What to buy?
Shadowrun on 360 is supposely good, Personally I`m really enjoying Crackdown, much more than I though I would i.e. wasn`t too keen on the GTA serires but loving crackdown

RE: Xbox/Xbox360 gamertags
I`ve been playing a bit more on Live of late, with the Halo 3 Beta and Crackdowns very addictive agility orbs and hidden orbs.
I`m looking fo some help getting co-op achievement especially in Crackdown by throwing me through the stunt markers etc.
I will be friend requesting people in this tread, other friends are mainly from ntsc-uk forum as don`t have gamer collegues at work
Its a lot easier now that you can send FR via the xbox.xom website.
If anyone wants to add me my GT is tonyk100 (space) UK.
On the recreational level. i.e. cursing when losing rather than being a potty mouth full time.

RE: Pre Ordering?
I think people are starting to realise that pre ordering online often gets games earlier, than the `street date`
It`s nice to see that with Forza if you preorder you get a code to access a unique car from the market place.
and the limited edition actually has 3 extra cars, better than pre ordering and finding the shops overloaded with them on launch day and nice to see a collectors edition with something a bit special.

RE: Acoustic Solution 19in Widescreen HD Ready LCD TV £149.99 at Argos
Quote:
Component offers RGB and progressive scan capabilities, but not true HD,
is that right?
A friend mentioned that my Xbox 360 wasn`t high definition, but I though a 720 or 1080i signal via component was high def. Microsoft have been calling it high definition gaming since launch
Is it that the HD fellows would like to control all our viewing so class HD as connections where they can add copy protection/region locouts etc. i.e. HDMI
Confused

RE: 3rd Rock Bargain

RE: Argos Gaming Bargains

RE: Xbox 360 wireless steering wheel
Lucky bleeder firstly.
I haven`t got one but had a go in Toys R us 2 days ago and the force feedback was great.
Saddly there were no peddles so you had to hold your finger on A to accrelerate which crampped my style a bit.
I think there are only 2 games so far that work with it the special version of PGR3 in the box and NFS Carbon.
If you get it working I would like to hear your further comments.
RE: Archos AV700 40GB 7 inch media player £150
Got one yesterday myself from the Northampton Branch, 40Gb of storage. Chap got it form out the back so I expect they would still have some. very happy.
was looking at 2GB Nanos but thought looks like it can do much more but about 200x the size of course :)
Was going to buy a samsung yh-999 from PC world for £99 but they didn`t have box or cables for it ???? didn`t take it off of display though ???
RE: Another 360 Thread :)
Sounds great, why are you not playing but posting????
Amped 3`s humour is a bit much, but its cheap and has its moments, I just picked up King Kong and Tomb Raider, enjoying them both so far, cheap second hand games, traded quickly because once complete and have thew achievment points theres not much left.
Looking for condemmed next demo was good, but at £50 new its a lot for a story driven game IMO. Paid around £15 each for TR, KK, and Amped and for that money can`t complain.
Whats your gamertag then?

RE: 137+gb HDD problem with my Xbox
Ok maybe I jumped to the wrong conclusion.
has the HD got Mame and other apps, are they taking up more space than you would think?
can you ask whoever modded it for you?
RE: 137+gb HDD problem with my Xbox
We don`t support piracy on here.
Surely you can`t be playing 20 games at once.
MAME games wouldn`t take up that much space.
btw if you brought a 160gb drive don`t forget it is smaller when formatted

RE: Half Life 2 Lost Coast Is Out!
I ignored the required specs failing on CPU and RAM and GFX card, played the level anyway, theres a new commentary system with activation points that are excellent. they describe designing the level and the amazing graphical imrovement that top end cards would reveal.
Its a nice addition, makes you want a £300+ graphics card and shows how much care goes into level design.
Brilliant

RE: Bargain DivX & Card Reader DVD Player £19.99 From Lidl!!
Thats mad! a £20 player, prog scan, digital camera picture viewer, RGB scart, optical out and possibly a home for a spare hard disk.
Need to get that page translated - what is it good for I wonder.

RE: DOOM! - full trailer...
I so wish they had had those passes when I was young & single, the problem with seening all the films at the cinema is then you`ve seen them all in the video shop.
Anyway about Doom, Not sure how the fps sequence will work, most scary films have the hero on screen backing away from the supposed threat further into the shadows, when the things behind them all along.
Moving FPS style will give scares turning corners and things dropping from above, not traditional but then again, maybe not done to death before becasue it won`t work.
Don`t you need to see the character in peril, to dread the impending scare on the heros behalf?
The last few Rock films have been ok, I thought.
RE: Aldi Medion PC next Thursday - 499.99
I agree about building one yourself for less, but what swung it for me was the software and warrenty. Normal PC World style warrenties and clinic check make me shudder Aldi has a non nosense approach to returns keep the reciept.
Your budget build doesn`t include a copy of Xp and Works which would bump the cost up, and sometimes its nice to have a legit copy.
In my experince the Aldi computer I brought is great and chock full of named compents, the only person to really turn thier nose up will be someone who wants `dell`/`Packard bell` on the Mouse Keyboard Monitor and Mousmat.
I think high speed gamers generally know which GFX cards suck, I spotted the achileas heel soon enough but as a family PC or Silver surfer PC, It can`t be bad, can it?
I wish they would start doing components I need a new AGP card, and could do with a bargin price.

RE: SkyWorth 3650 player issues
If you read the other thread, you`ll see theres much more to AVI`s than I though possible, its very confusing, certain resalutions and bitrates give the chipset in the skyworth more of a headache than others.
Also Xvid and Divx are differnt Xvids are more troublesome and after all it is DivX certified not Xvid.
As I have said before this player is as cheap as chips, multiregion, and plays all the back up copies of the movies you own. Its a lot more flexible than much more expensive branded products. By checking for packed bitstreams you can solve most problems.
My Yamada 6700 displays the counter on avis as well, but I haven`t had any problems with stuttering yet but then I`ve been lucky with the Skyworth to.
Have fun
Tony
RE: My xbox won`t work on my tv
if your using the composite cable that came with the Xbox the picture will be slightly fuzzy because all the picture detail is in the yellow part. The Scart adaptor block dosen`t improve the picture quality any.
How fuzzy is fuzzy? unbearable.
I wonder if your TV can`t handle a NTSC signal has it been Chipped and left in NTSC output mode?
You could buy a official RGB lead from Argos and plug it into AV1 at the back of the TV if you have no luck you could try to take it back - better still possibly borrow one of a mate
good luck
Tony
RE: SkyWorth 3650 player issues
Calm down dear ;)
There is no need to smash it up. The countdown timer thing appears automatically just press the display button on the remote a few times it will cycle through the time remaining total time etc eventually it will show display off - bingo
As for the jerky playback, check for a packed bitstream in the avis using mpegmodifier. that will solve 50% of the problems. the firmware upgrade is not for the fainthearted
Check out the other thread for more details
good luck
