RE: Stella Cheap £9.99 Iceland

Yeah, saw it advertised and bagged a couple of cases today, as you say, it`s the proper Stella - not the s***e stuff brewed in Reading or where ever!

RE: Help wanted in finding sci-fi dvd & I can`t remember the title........

It`s `The Final Countdown` starring Kirk Douglas and Martin Sheen, released in 1980. Think I saw it for sale for £4.99 @play?

RE: It`s back!! This Thursday night on Ch 4 at 11.35!!!...

I wasn`t aware that it was coming out on dvd? Thing is, I actually think the programme has got better and better, I actually prefer it `post David Caruso`.

It`s back!! This Thursday night on Ch 4 at 11.35!!!...

Finally, the brilliant NYPD Blue is back on our screens. We`re a whole two seasons behind though, this will be the start of season 8 (which was shown two years a go), they`re currently half way through season 10 in the States. Anyway, just enjoy :o)

RE: Virgin Megastore buy 2 DVDs get the cheapest 1 `free` offer

`DVD`s are getting cheaper and cheaper`

No s*** Sherlock?!

Virgin Megastore buy 2 DVDs get the cheapest 1 `free` offer

I don`t buy stuff from Virgin (or the other high st. rip-off merchants) as a rule, but was browsing in my local store today and snapped up Amores Perros and The Man Who Wasn`t There, both for £19.99. These two had been on my `to get` list for a while now and this deal saved me a tenner on Play`s prices.

RE: Brilliant Sale At Whsmith

I bought Amelie (single disc) for £7.99 yesterday, know it`s prob been on sale elsewhere for that before, but @ play it`s a whoppin` £14.99 (and currently out of stock!)

RE: My free Fox DVD just dropped through the letter box this morning.

Yep, What Lies Beneath was delivered this very morning. Fair play to Fox for keeping their word, I noticed that the sleeve has no barcode on it, only a `for promotional use only` label, so there`ll be no taking it back to the shops and exchanging it for something else after you`ve watched it once. Not as if people do that kinda thing anyway... ;o)

`Insomnia`? I was gripped

I saw Insomnia last night and was very impressed, the performances were unifomly excellent - another Oscar for Mr Pacino or Williams? Even though I thought the film was very well made, coming after the head-f*** that was Memento, you could argue that it was just another stylish crime thriller? I`ll now have to make sure I watch the original Norwegian version, which I`ve got on video somewhere from when it was shown on ch4.

RE: `Wonder Boys` going cheap down under

I`ve heard good things about it & Katie Holmes swings it for me everytime ;o)

`Wonder Boys` going cheap down under

I know it`s not a new release, but just snapped this up from EzyDVD for the princely sum of £6.78 (including shipping). Play are charging a whopping £14.99 for it.

RE: 14" Portable TV/DVD..STAPLES

I can see that represents pretty good value, but doesn`t watchin a DVD on a 14" screen rather defeat the object?

RE: Man United Membership only £18 - what a bargain

F*ck right off, wot place is there for this pile of sh*t on a dvd site?!

RE: Star Wars: AOTC - Mind Blowing!!!!!!

Saw it yesterday afternoon, enjoyed it loads more than Eps.1. Although I thought it dragged in places and there were some really clunky moments, together with some terrible dialogue. Christopher Lee was very good, as was Yoda! It was also good to see Jimmy Smits in something decent after NYPD Blue. A couple of points - does anyone else agree with this - the number of costume changes the Natalie Portman character made became laughable - though she did look particularly sexy in the tight white number at the end. Also, how camper can C3PO get? Or should that be, how less camp did he become? By Eps.3 I expect he will be mincing around with one hand on his hip, makin Graham Norton look like Stuart Pearce!

RE: Straw Dogs Region 2

It`s available on R2 from the excellent Danish site http://192.38.242.50/dvdoo/film.asp?command=5653
Available for 99 kroners inc. p&p which comes out to a few pence over £8, only problem is the transfer is 1.33:1 ratio. I have ordered from this company several times and have found them to be very efficient.

RE: THE DEAD ZONE- ANY GOOD???

An excellent film with a wonderfully under-played, melancholic performance from Mr Walken in the lead, I think he should`ve received at least an Oscar nomination for it. I haven`t seen the film for a good few years so might bag a copy myself, though I think it might be better value from another region?

RE: Close Encounters of the Third Kind - EzyDVD £8 bargain

Yep, just snatched that one up, along with The Beatles Magical Mystery Tour which is an absolute steal for a fiver. Strewth!

RE: PACINO or DE NIRO?

I posed the exact same question a few months ago on this very forum, my answer is still the same, Pacino gets my vote as he has taken more risks in his choice of roles throughout his career. I don`t think that it`s just down to the amount of Oscar nominations as most film actors know these are `political`, more than who gave the best performance in a given year.

RE: Anyone got any good web sites????

Ironduke, I`m surprised you can even type straight.

RE: Anyone got any good web sites????

It may be a bit juvenile but try http://www.dazbert.co.uk/rudefood/index.htm
guaranteed to raise at least a smirk?!

RE: The new Levis ad

I agree, it`s a stunning ad, read somewhere that the music used was an `existing` piece rather than anything specially commissioned, but can`t remember the name of the track.

RE: Whatever happened to NYPD Blue

Spooky, I was wondering the exact same thing only this week. Do you think that it be some over-sensitive reaction to the events in NY on Sept. 11th? Just a thought...

A couple of goodies for eight quid-ish each

The brilliant Salvador (Special Edition) is available for £7.99 at dvdplus.co.uk and There`s Something About Mary is yours for £8.20 at dvdoo.dk.

RE: `Taxi Driver` any good????? only £9.99 on play247 by the way!

Snap it up now, it`s an absolute classic, probably in my own personal top ten faves of all-time. The extras are v good as well especially the documentary.

Problems with SFA`s Rings Around The World

Has anyone else experienced problems in trying to play the audio remixes section of this disc? When doing so on my Philips 711, each track will only play the first 10 secs and freezes then repeats itself on a loop. I returned the disc to Play who sent me another, but exactly the same thing happens, I know people commented on problems with the menus `crashing` but I`ve not heard of this problem. Any suggestions?

Save cash on The Clash - Westway to the World

DVDplus has this brilliant new release for just £11.99, cheapest price I`ve found it for.

RE: WHAT`S YOUR FAVOURITE REGION 2 DVD?

This Is Spinal Tap (I never tire of watching this)

Summer Of Sam (massively over-looked with a great commentary as well)

The Thing (a bona fide classic)

Hey `Kid Brunch`, can`t you find something more constructive to occupy yer time in the school holidays?
