RE: PHILIPS DVR 70 OR 75

Talkshop you need to be educated and quick....!

DVD RAM is the best out of all the formats, however it is not as widely utilised such as -R for example. I had a Philips DVDR75 and it had a string of problems. After 3 months I took it back to Richer Sounds and I told the guy of the catalogue of problems that I had. He stated that the Philips DVD recorders were well known to be problematic. I received a full refund. A week before returning it to Richers I bought the Panasonic E55, what a brilliant machine it is....! It leaves the Philips standing!

RE: Sainsbury`s Selling XBOX and PS2 For £69.95

Purchased the £74.99 XBOX at the Dog Kennel Hill branch in Dulwich. They seemed to have a few left check them out. Ironically when I called the branch, they told me they had none, so I went there on Friday night and bagged one! Great purchase!!!

RE: Changing my AV Amp

If you can I would exchange the Pioneer and get the Sony instead - Richers are currently doing a good deal on STR495s at present. If your budget can stretch to it, I would check out the Yamaha range!

RE: Philips 711 - DVD playing issue

Philips players are reknowned for this problem. My DVDR75 fell into the same bracket. Go by a Panasonic or some other make that demonstrates no problems at all...!

RE: Phelings - Get ready to say

No I can get a refund under the 14 day exchange. It`s hard finding out though been wading through lots of pages on the net and nothing!!

RE: Phelings - Get ready to say

I only just bought the Panasonic and I really like it....! My thinking is to buy a cheapie like the Yamada and hope that I can transfer my VHS. Dont really want to change it for the Pioneer 2 b honest...!

RE: yamada dvr8000 a couple of quick questions...

Can this player record NTSC video tapes? Apparently only Philips and Pioneer permit this but they are too expensive to use as secondary recorder to record a few NTSC tapes...!

RE: Phelings - Get ready to say

After a couple of months of disc errors and strange codes on the display of my DVDR75, I took it bak to Richer Sounds, who refunded my money. A week previous I had purchased the DMR-E55 and I am 95% happy with it - The only snag is that I cannot copy NTSC video tapes! Does anyone know if this is possible with the Yamada?

RE: Panasonic DMR-E55 and Recording from NTSC to PAL converted Video

Thanks Phelings!

Unfortunately although I like the sound of the Pioneers I`m sticking with the Panasonic...! I really like it. I may purchase a cheap Philips to compensate. Crazy but I`m a DVD RAM convert!

RE: Panasonic DMR-E55 and Recording from NTSC to PAL converted Video

I`m livid!!!!

The Pioneers are lovely but have no RGB output - And I really don`t want to go back to Philips!!! I`m going to try and convert it on my computer!!!

Panasonic DMR-E55 and Recording from NTSC to PAL converted Video

I have a DMR-E55 which I have connected to Sky Digital and my JVC VCR (which plays NTSC tapes).

When transferring PAL video to DVD, the picture and sound is perfect. However when I try to transfer an NTSC to PAL converted video then the picture is either black or white or the bottom half of the screen is full of lines.

I had a Philips DVDR75 which recorded NTSC video tapes without any probs. The only thing is that the Philips had developed numerous faults in the first three months so it had to go back!

Any ideas for what can be done?
