I think the next step is to put up a game review so you can get an idea of how the new site all works.

Guys, really need to know if you are keen enough to actually give this a go, otherwise I need to find some more pips.

Not really detecting much enthusiasm atm. :/

RE: Tartan Films in adminsitration?

Tartan always had the most diverse catalogue, but some of their DVDs were, frankly, of appalling a/v quality, and unlike the Contender labels, you were never quite sure what you were going to get until you got it.

Looks like it may be up to Optimum Asia to carry the torch.

Surprised this recommendation got past the mods really

Yeah, I know. I mean, it`s one thing boasting about using R4 cards in your DS, pointing people towards free (read: not really free) applications for their PC or checking out the latest blockbuster by downloading DVD Rips - the multitude of posts on these topics, well, we can all let them slide.

But plastic cases? No way. And from a n00b? Uh-uh.

Where`s my f***ing high horse? >:(

RE: The Incredible Hulk

Looks like I`m in the minority here, but I thought it was a bit of a stinker. It started off well, but petered out as soon as Banner was back together with Betty Ross, with no drive in the script after the first act. The action scenes were decent enough, but really lacked the scale that the character deserves, the attempts at wit were dire and I hated, hated the way Emil Blonsky was used throughout.

On the positive side, I prefered this CGI Hulk to Ang Lee`s. Greatly. The score wasn`t half bad either and seeing as I`m one of the six people who played Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, it was fun seeing the nods to that amongst the other references.

RE: Metal gear solid 4 lots of long fmv!

Yup, it has definitely surpassed expectations so far.

The action has been incredible (did you get the Gekko peering over the wall at the very beginning - :D ), the story has been really fluid (I`m on Act 2) for an MGS game and I`ve really enjoyed the cutscenes as they act as a breather as opposed the the start-stop mentality of past games. And, in my opinion, Hideo`s mantra of `no place to hide` works really, really well in terms of sneaking tactics.

Excellent game + free film = full of win!

The only problem is that I`m a little scared to fire her up today as I know once I get going, I`m there for the duration. I was still playing despite being pig-tired at 2am last night, and I`ve got real world things to get done first. :(

Anyone playing this while I`m not are, franky, c***s. What`s worse is that despite some negativity during the build-up to release, everyone seems to be really digging it.

Roll on Monday. Maybe Sunday if I`m lucky.

RE: GTA IV delayed until 2008!

I never did any of the side dating crap, but I used all the abilities I had access to to varying degrees bar Packie`s. Jacob is handy as hell if you run out of ammo or need a new vest when you`re miles away from an Ammu-Nation and Roman`s cab is a good laugh just to listen to the cabbie with a chip on his shoulder.

RE: Wanted

Mmm... CGI-ilicious. The allusions to Night Watch for the Ruskies with all the computer generated cinematography certainly make it look better than the original theatrical trailer made it out to be.

Current interest level: moderate-to-high.

Bah, just haven`t got the time to play it at the moment. Never mind though, MGS4 is out on Thursday, and I`ve got the following Mon-Wed booked off.

The previous games were ruined by endless cutscenes and conversations on the rights and wrongs of war, killing the environment etc.

Aside from an extra-ordinarily long epilogue-cum-ending (which according to reviews, MGS4 tops by about 30-minutes and would appear to be the 90-minute cut-scene in question - which doesn`t ruffle my feathers as much as one smack bang in the middle), MGS 3 had an almost perfect balance between gameplay and Kojima`s aspirations as a philosophisin` movie director. Actually, the original MGS didn`t go overboard either. It`s only MGS 2 that was essentially over-run by them.

But that`s Metal Gear Solid. Like it or lump it.

Have you done all the internet dating (yawn) stuff? There`s 3 or 4 girls you need to take out a few times (and get their abilities) to do 100%. There`s lists all over the next about what you need for 100%, they should point you in the right direction.

Can`t believe you`ve stuck with the single player that long. I finished up around 65% and sold it while it still had a chance of going for decent money.

RE: Metal gear solid 4 lots of long fmv!

A cursory glance at any random CVG online article (and usually its comments section) shows they can`t afford/don`t see the need for a sub-editor, so their fact-checking would be dubious at best.

Still, a 90-minute cutscene would be taking the p***, even by Kojima standards. Maybe said playtester didn`t realise he`d regained control of the game about an hour or so ago.

Modern games journos do tend to be a little thick, especially if they`re American. Where`s Jaz Rignall when you need him?

RE: PS3 Dualshock 3 controller

Maybe it`s just me, but paying 40 quid for a new controller for the novelty of rumble is tantamount to madness. Fair enough if you need a second controller, but shelling out the cost of a new PS3 game to replace the six-axis, which a lot of people are doing via import, or intend to do when it`s released, makes my brain spin.

Maybe I`m just too poor/know the value of a pound.*

Why should a seller not be able to leave a buyer a negative for taking 3 weeks to pay?? Or just not paying at all??

Just sold my first post-changes item on eBay. I was wondering why, after several hundreds of transactions, this one decided to wait over a week to pay me, with zero contact. Then I realised.

Stupid idea. I`m primarily a buyer, but I know first hand that buyers are just as likely to be c***s as sellers.

When was the last time you saw T2? The effects look abysmal now, which goes to show how far we`ve moved on. You`re saying it doesn`t look fake?

In my opinion, the computer effects in T2 do genuinely still look great, in the way that Rob Bottin`s special effects still look great in The Thing. Cameron never over-did the computer imagery, and had a far lower shot total than he could`ve had had he pushed it. It`s not a case of whether it looks fake or not, but how it blends with the rest of the mise-en-scène of the production.

Anyway, I haven`t seen Indy IV, so I`ll shut up.

Of course they are. Amiga fans are like the hardest of the hardcore, in a constant bubble of collective self-denial that the Amiga platform ever died. It takes a lot of geek power to maintain such an illusion.
