RE: does anyone else have a problem?
I think lip sync is one of those things that can send you mad.
If you go looking for it I am sure you will start thinking that certain scenes or even actors look OK whereas others look like re-runs of MONKEY. Unless its downright obvious stop thinking about lip sync and you probably wont notice it.
Whilst on the subject though has anyone noticed problems with the beginning of I know what you did last summer. Or does this just prove my first point ?
NB be proud of your Alba. You stand tall against VHS man. OK he can record but I bet he paid more for inferier picture and sound on playback.

RE: Help
>>Its to keep the ball in the picture, didn`t you play ping pong when you were a kid !!!
clayts is a forest fan which explains the lack of understanding. Forest don`t need blue bars - they have controlled passing and precision shooting straight into the onion bag.
Bring on the Fulham !!! (with the possibility that this post may be edited come 5pm on Saturday).
RE: HOW PURE ARE YOU? (Take the DVD Reviewer Purity Test)
31 % having owned my player since christmas.
I was surprised not to see any questions regarding amount of posts on these forums.
or just amount of time logged onto DVD websites.
Maybe these questions are needed to help Ironduke raise his score ??
RE: Bear....In here>>>>
>>I wasn`t going to say anything H-Man, but as you mentioned it mate...
clayts,
Based in London (not afraid to admit that I am a glory boy from 1977 and once I supported the team I couldn`t possibly change) but have previously had a s/t for a number of seasons, mostly trent end (standing) and then upper tier.
The two and half hour journey back home is often quicker than the tube from west ham.
Its not for a little while but I will definitely be up for the QPR game.
NB While on the subject of Jason Lee what about Brian Rice !!
and ......What about Psycho against Man U ? - He is immense !!
RE: Whats the big deal with Macrovision
007
I think your 2nd para sums this one up.
Bear....In here>>>>
You`re a Leicester fan.
I can`t believe it - Gutted !!!
What`s more you have a dig at the team that gave you the boss that gave you some glory years (not quite to the heights of 2 European cups, league title etc but at least you`re still in the top flight).
Come on you reds.....
Whats the big deal with Macrovision
Can someone please help me on this. I really don`t understand the big fuss on disabling macrovision.
If people buy DVD players for the enchanced quality why would you want to record a DVD to video and then re-watch the video with the knowledge the it was twice as good on DVD (NB I am also presuming you can`t recreate the 5.1 sound when you copy to video).
OK so you could hot foot down to blockbusters and get a film for £3.25 plus the cost of a blank tape, but asides from the legal issue my previous point remains. Once you watched a film on DVD why oh why would you want to watch it on video.
If you want to collect films and the cost of buying DVD`s is prohibitive then why but a player in the first place ?
Or have I missed the point ?
RE: If Aiwa 370 is not available, should I buy a Scan (or clone)?
My advice - Don`t buy a scan.
Get an LG or if you just essentially want a DVD player (as suggested) look for a modified Pioneer.

RE: AIWA 370, Factually accurate review from what Hi-Fi etc etc
Anybody that believes what they read in magazine reviews should carry out the following simple tasks:
1. Read as many reviews about SCAN as possible.
2. Decide to buy scan.
3. Log onto dvdreviewer then type `scan` in forum search.
4. Decide not to buy a scan.
5. Stop paying £4 for a book of adverts and misguided opinions.
6. Keep visiting dvdreviewer.
End of chat.
RE: What player do you have, so I can work out the which players have sold the most.CLOSED
Is anybody still reading this thread ?
RE: HOW QUICK ARE DVDBO
Ordered on 17th Jan, recd on 29th Jan.
Thats quick enough for me - and it beats the hell out of the WHS get 5% off (thats about 80 pence off their standard price for 1 DVD) but spend another £2-3 on postage. Why ??????
RE: Scratched Disks - Can they be saved
My copy of green mile has been scratched causing it to skip for about 10 mins - As per YaZiN`s post - Can this be saved, If yes what can you recommend ???
RE: Aiwa shite
Summary of this thread is - We have 3 faulty aiwa players - As admitted by all of you.
You really cannot judge a player in its true light when it is actually faulty to start with. All this thread can prove is a problem with aiwa`s quality control and even then we are talking about 3 players out of how many sold in the UK ? The very fact that everywhere is out of stocks suggests lots and lots.
You are certainly entitled to a grumble if you have had faulty players and I am glad that you are pleased with your new ones but please don`t think you speak for a perfectly good model of the xd dv370.
NB If you buy a scan and it goes wrong think very carefully about why you came to this forum in the first place.
RE: Jimbo your player is faulty......;~)
Not quite so fast with the smug look jimbo.
Checked once again: With disc in machine, turned power off and lo and behold power light turned to red immediately.
Also left power on and player inactive, after 8 minutes or so, player turns to standby mode - light goes red immediately.
NB When you say lods more since then:
a) do you mean loads ?
b) do you mean loads more problems / quirks ?
If so and in the interests of other users (and a balanced view on the aiwa) it would be helpful to post them on the forums.
At least it would go some way to redressing the balance from the monotomy of scan messages.
Jimbo your player is faulty......;~)
How do I know ???
Just read your hardware review and you state that the power light glows green in standby mode. Mine glows red (cue smutty remarks).
Lievn & anyone else- what about yours - Can your confirm the bad news for Jimbo ??
LOL - No hard feelings eh - perhaps yours will be a collectable ?
RE: POWER SURGE PROTECTORS ARE THEY WORTH BOTHERING WITH ?
I thinks they are a waste of money. I`ve never used one and never had a .....sizzle.....prob.....sizzle....lem...sizzlesizzle fzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz BANG
How about a forum dedicated to Scan ?
At the risk of upsetting the Scan community (particulary the satisfied customers) and with the advent of the additional forums can I suggest that a new forum is set up specifically concentrating on Scan.
At one point yesterday 7 out of the first 10 hardware postings related to Scan. At present 25% of the first page relate to Scan. I could appreciate it if Scan didn`t have a publisised `history` on these forums but they do - Try a search on Scan and see the results - This is what put me off Scan and quite frankly I am glad. All the problems cannot have been unforseen by those that visited this site before buying (and lets face it Scan are not a high street name so buying a Scan must mean people have done research on sites likes this).
I think it is excellent that Scan users have the opportunity to sort their problems out via these forums but please make it separate - This will then allow the rest of us to find information easier and quicker without postings going off the page within a matter of hours.
No prizes for guessing my machine by the way..........
ecoustics.com have loads of DVD player reviews
I saw a posting recently complained about lack of magazine reviews for the aiwa370. There are a couple on the above site - funnily enough they don`t exactly sing its praises. I ignored them on the basis of the contents of these forums and am delighted with my choice.
Anyway back to the point - if anyone is on the look out for a new player there are stacks of reviews covering loads of players - definitely worth a look....
RE: >Dan Bates!< - Pioneer 530/535 Review??
"How is your review of the Pioneer DV530/535 coming along??"
I knew it, I knew it !!!!!!!! You did get out of Sarlacc`s pit. You`ve got to tell me how you did it - It`s been buggin me for 17 years !!!

RE: Robert Shephards SIte News Article!
I agree that bear should get a reprieve. If the scan owners have an issue with anyone maybe they should start with the telesales reps who told them that the next batch of machines will be OK.
Talking of scan owners, I presume that Troy has had his `e-mail` from sheppy - Can anyone confirm ???
RE: Checking your Aiwa firmware revision (what`s yours?)
Even though I have aiwa xd in my blood this has cheered up my Monday night.
On the subject of your player - I have to admit it`s not a toaster but...Is this the brand that makes those funny square looking BBQ`s that sit about 6 inches off the floor (infact have I not just described the 505?). It definitely begins with Hi anyway.....
Shields activated......

RE: Aiwa XR-DV370KN and XD-DV370 help!!!
I`ll bet that the XR is from comet. If so this must be an excuse for comet to advertise this player as `exclusive to comet` - ref `What Hi fi and video` dec00. It clearly isn`t (even though its just about impossible to get it anywhere else) if you look at any photo of it in comets advertising material the player clearly has the model number XD on it.
In summary, provided you haven`t fallen asleep, its exactly the same and the hack will work - just make sure you follow the sage advice of Jimbo.
On another point what has orac got against the XD ? If you`re reading this orac then you obviously just couldn`t resist reading more threads about this great player. Admit it - you want one don`t you...... Wharfie starting to show its limitations isnt it.........

RE: Is the Aiwa XD-DV370 Remote Hackable??
Sword are you still online??
Where are you getting yours from - Is it the comet website ?
Also once you get it let us know if the hack work OK......
This item was edited on Friday, 1st December 2000, 23:58
Beng.......Does the hack work on your AIWA
Or anybody else thats been having problems with the AIWA remote hack.
Please let us know whether you have got it sorted........
RE: Is the Aiwa XD-DV370 Remote Hackable??
I`ve got a leaflet from Comet with the Aiwa detailed. Comet detail the model number as XR but in the photo of the player you can clearly see the model number XD.
Now thats Comet sense.......
Anybody actually got a player or instruction manual etc with XR ??
RE: Cyberhome AD-N 212
Richer sounds are doing it for £119.95. Its supposed to be multi region but for this money you are either looking at a complete bargin that will inevitably be permanently out of stock or it`s a toster - my moneys on the jam and butter !
Any one got one ?
If you buy one let us know how you get on but remember DVD = superier picture and sound - if it can`t compete against a mono VCR ....leave it Frank, just leave it - I said leave it !!!
I`m with the Aiwa all the way on players below £200

RE: Aiwa 370: new supplier UPDATE!!!!!!!!
Thanks Jimbo.
An e-mail is on its way !
NB One day the rest of the DVD sites (and mags) are going to catch up with this one re the Aiwa - I`ve really struggled to find any more details on it; aiwa.co.uk - what a waste of time, I reckon this was last updated in basic.
What with your backing though and Duke`s more subtle endorsements I guess people don`t need further convincing............
Aaaargggh ....hed have sold out of Aiwa
Having been convinced that the Aiwa is the best player for my budget I finally log on to hed only to find they have sold out and do not expect any more.
Call me tight but I don`t want to pay those rascals at comet the extra £30.
Anybody know of any other places I can buy this ??
Also has anyone tried a RCE disk yet ?
