Checking your Aiwa firmware revision (what`s yours?)

Jezebabe (Competent) posted this on Saturday, 9th December 2000, 16:43

I tried the hack to display the firmware revision of my Aiwa 370 (see http://aiwaownersnetwork.tripod.com/_private/pages/firmware_display_hack.htm for details). I got the following details:

VERSION DISPLAY
MODEL: AIWA EUROPE
REGION: NO.02
NATION: GB 00
MICOM: VER1.2 20000718
SERVO: D003
MPEG: OL40 20APR00
MISC: 11 A0 47 42 00 DE 10 00 00 00

What do other people get? Also, does anyone know what MICOM refers to or what the MISC data is for?

*NOTE* A final warning to anyone who tries this. It seems to reset your display to "component video", so in my case when I next used the DVD player I got no video output (I`m using S-Video). Fortunately I did realise what was going on and hooked up a SCART cable so I could see the DVD output and reset it to S-Video. YMMV

Cheers
Jez

::ahem:: I assume here that was a friendly jibe Duke....not really a "let`s start a flame war" posting?
....or was it?

Does the duke intend to take on the mighty Aiwa Owners Network?

Or did he take that firmware screen from a Mico or Hitachi..?

I don`t really wanna do this Duke...but if ya want me to be honest...

Samsung 511: average of four or five a week..most people notice the 305 is the same player and save themselves £30 by getting the 511.

Philips (various models): two or three a day...one of the top sellers.

Sony (various models): average of one, sometimes two a day

Toshiba (various models): one or two a week recently

Thomson combi tv/dvd: two a week average

Thomson DVD players (Various): one or two a day

LG 3350 : Was nil, but since the hack thing on the forums, picking up...getting close to rivalling the Philips sales

Pioneer (various) about 3 or 4 a week.

Hitachi 505: erm...sorry mate, and I am being honest...1 in the last six months!
(customers just don`t wanna pay that much in my store unless they get a Sony or Philips!)
Oh, and Panasonic is the same...never moves!

AIWA 370 (officially) ROCKS!!!!!!!!

Even though I have aiwa xd in my blood this has cheered up my Monday night.

On the subject of your player - I have to admit it`s not a toaster but...Is this the brand that makes those funny square looking BBQ`s that sit about 6 inches off the floor (infact have I not just described the 505?). It definitely begins with Hi anyway.....

Shields activated......
