RE: JVC 523 Hack to remove Macro??
Yes you probably can. the word on the street says there are little silver boxes out there enabling a PC to recode the eeprom via compulink socket. however the RCE issue has not been considered and its likely the hack would work but not play RCE discs. get the LINK/TECHTRONICS mod fitted instead. much safer
otherwise just buy one of those macrovision busters as advertised by CPC.co.uk there cheap and work. region 2 only of course
RE: I need to get colour on my TV. Using a DVD-ROM.
region 1 discs will still output as NTSC and I dont think the Pana TV does multistandard? does it hence in theory only region 2 discs should play colour
RE: NTSC to Pal
The DVD output is PAL60 surely! and that is why the tv cant play it
If its a 5 yr + old JVC TV it cant handle NTSC or PAL60
All newer TVs should work ok.
The JVC XV515 once coded ( an internal mod and remote hack) outputs region 1 discs in pure PAL50 very nice quality as well. however macrovision is still on so you need a buster also. results superb, much better than using a standard converter
RE: PSX 2 Multi Region????
there is a pic hack out there, even for europe machines but the schematics dont show the current uk released board yet so we dont know how to connect it. give them a few weeks however.....
It looks unlikely to be able to play region 1 / NTSC discs since this unit UK, seems to be PAL only
So the hack is for CDR PSX1/2 games only?
RE: Enhanced region coding, will it mess up my life?
rce region 2 discs should play fine on any un PIC chipped players ie those with hard regio 1 or region 2 eeprom coding. you`ll just have to try it though.
