Hi, I`ve just got the Liteon 5001 from Currys, does what it says on the tin

Picture very good (on SP - 2 hour mode) haven`t tried the others yet
Ease of use - excellent, foolproof
Good looking machine, good build.
Manual good
Plays all disks (only records on DVDR+(RW) although somewhere it does say that it records on minus aswell, but mine doesn`t.
If you don`t want your recorded material to be used elsewhere have a look in Currys at the 40 gig hard \drive recorder including freeview tuner for £149, don`t know what it`s like though,

RE: how do I connect my sky box to the liteon LVW-5001

Come on ! I`m as thick as two short planks but mine worked first time on Thursday. Seriously I just connected via VCR scart at the back of the Sky box to the 5001 and bingo ! Have you done it yet ?
I`m getting good results on SP being the 2 hour option, I`ve used both DVR - RW 9for multi sessions) and DVR from start to finish, very good. Will try the timer function tomorrow night. Have hacked the multi-region as per this site, no problems,

Liteon 5001 firmware upgrade

All,
can you help me, I,ve just bought one of the above from Currys, very nice unit, good results on SP (two hours) good price £149.But to be able to use the recorded disks on other machines Currys told me that I would have to get an upgrade (I imagine that this would be classed as firmware) from the Liteon site, but I can`t find it can anybody help ?
