RE: DMRE55 - JPEGs

I`ve not tried it but I dont think the PAnny will play jpegs. You could author them into a slideshow and just play as a DVD (with music and commentary if you like)

RE: Which DVD recorder(Tevion or Liteon) please help!!

Try and find the extra dosh and get the Panny
£174 from.....

They let me collect mine and still get the on-line price.

Will a DVD Recorder pick up the VideoPlus code from a Freeview box?

RE: Will a DVD Recorder pick up the VideoPlus code from a Freeview box?

Thanks for the info. I`ve been doing some research of my own and found the Sony unit mentioned...£375 + :o I also spoke to Panasonic who say they do not have plans for a similar unit in the near future.
However comma the E55 has QLINK (I think that`s the version) and Sony freeview boxes have SMARTLINK (forgive me if I get the terms wrong). Other manufactures have their own varieties of ...LINK and they "talk" to each other. Apparently if you program the STB it will kick off the recorder as long as you have a fully wired (21 pin) SCART lead.
To that end, today I managed to source a refurb Sony box at Dabs for £67. Still not ordered my Panny though.

Will a DVD Recorder pick up the VideoPlus code from a Freeview box?

If I were to buy a Panny E55 recorder how do I program it using Videoplus. If I use the timer on the Freeview box to switch to the correct channel will the code be be detected at the SCART input and trigger recording?

RE: Transferring DVD-RAM to DVD Video on PC

OK already!! I think we went off subject slightly. I hadn`t thought about dubbing the VCDs over from another player....but if I did that then I could consider the Samsung again :)
The Panny still looks like the dogs dangly bits though. I have however, just found another fly in my ointment. We use Freeview. Therefore, no recording one channel whilst watching another :( I need another STB. I`ve got a Daewoo already which I bought for its sensitivity (I dont mean it cries all the time) because I live in a shady area, RF speaking. Its great when its working but as the evening wears on the signal wears out. Any suggestions for a new "budget" box?

RE: Transferring DVD-RAM to DVD Video on PC

Thanks Emily, Following a Google for ".vro" I`m happy to go for the DVD-RAM option (dicounting the DVD-R) of the Panasonic. Besides, having ploughed through the downloaded Samsung manual it appears that it wont play VCD. That seems to go against the whole idea I know, but I`ve got a shelf full of them! So its off to Richer Sounds tomorrow to have £180 surgically removed from my hip!!

Transferring DVD-RAM to DVD Video on PC

OK, so I`m about to take the plunge into the world of DVD recorders. I think I`m going for the Panny E55 or maybe the Samsung (if I can find one). Is it possible to transfer (or re-author) the recordings to DVD-Video on my PC. My burner is NEC and wont read DVD-RAM but my LG reader will.
