Oh well, tis only a game

True....but for me it isn`t as fun anymore with people getting too serious about analysing stats, the forum being flooded with posts dissecting the best ways to obtain and allocate XP, less and less banter in the forum, and now few of the main site regulars left.

If everyone refused people who put loads of xp into their dexterity, then there wouldn`t be a problem. The trouble is people accept these challenges, which they clearly cannot win.

It baffles me a lot. I guess they only look at the lesser XP that they`ll gain themselves instead of looking at the bigger picture. :/

Willy gets huge points no matter who he fights.

Have people forgotten how to use the "refuse challenge" button? :/

I`m lothe to throw all my xp into dex, but it`s the only way of having a chance against my peers in the table. Getting a bit fed up now...

Same here. I`ve just terminated my gremlin because the extent to which this dexterity issue has been exploited by some of the players has become ridiculous. It`s impossible to compete with them unless you`re also prepared to allocate all XP into dexterity.

Part of the appeal is trying to aim for the top of the alltime gremlins list, but now it`s difficult to see anyone ever overtaking Steamboat Willy unless they are also willing to pile all XP into dexterity, and with forthcoming code changes likely even that won`t be possible.
Also, I`m surprised that people are still prepared to accept/issue challenges to those gremlins with dexterity stats that are way out of proportion, it kind of seems shortsighted to me.

RE: Baby gremlin looking for fight and maybe more.

If you want to boost Lee Longhead`s attractiveness with some beauty treatment, then all you`ll need to do is challenge PhRRRRRRps. ;)

RE: Will nobody here challenge me?

I have to admit that I was shocked after the first few days to see your younger gremlin had more points than mine but had had far fewer fights, and the tactic of challenging the top gremlins is working out just nicely with just 3 refusals so far. ;)
I can see you`re getting a bit concerned though, with your call for more challenges. :p

RE: Will nobody here challenge me?

More target practice for PhRRRRRRps please!
Be amongst the first to experience his own unique contribution to the beauty product range: the dangleberry facemask. :o

You`re No. 1 on the all time list for wins now :D

LOL! I knew it wouldn`t be long until you`d retaliate with one of your cheapshots. :p
I think we can safely assume though that Numpty won`t be challenging for this accolade with only 6 wins out of 22 so far......correction, now 6 wins out of 23. :D 8)

RE: New fight code will get an update very quickly methinks

This just ain`t right:

:o :/ >:( :( :p (yep! the last one`s directed at you chewie)

What`s to stop young gremlins from issuing all challenges to the biggest gremlins in order to always gain loads of XP.
At the moment I`m only gaining on average about 4 or 5 XP with my baby gremlin for each fight, yet if I challenge a much bigger gremlin then I`ll gain 15 XP each time. :/

RE: Gremlin Graveyard

Paaaaarps

Paaaaarps sadly parped away early this morning, the victim of a freak accident resulting in his buttocks being blown apart after tucking into one too many jars of his favourite chili-spiced pickled onions.
Over to PhRRRRRRRRps for more trumpeting tomfoolery. 8)

Totally tongue-in-cheek

In Paaaarps case more like nugget-between-cheeks. ;)

RE: New alltime best gremlin!

Two against one ;).
Come on try 60/40 in favour of wins. The table probably won`t be exactly the same compared to if it was based entirely on wins.
With it is like it is at the moment, I`m not too bothered about winning fights, just having close ones so I can earn lots of XP. Not caring about winning or losing takes away some of the excitement of the game.

RE: Refusing Challenges

Quote:
There`s always one...isn`t there?? :p :D

Well I`ll take that as a compliment, even if you don`t mean it as one. :p 8)

RE: Refusing Challenges

Quote:
I know I said Poohbearie wasn`t going to refuse any challenges-but when Paaaarps has over 800 points for stamina and dexterity and poor little Poohbearie is still in the early 200`s-it seems a bit pointless don`t you think?

Quote:
I never refuse a challenge-no matter how big.

Hmmmm.

Shame that cos Paaaaarps was looking forward to a nice easy win. :(
Lucky for Poohbearie, though, as he could have ended up even more poohie than usual as Paaaaarps has accumulated a whole orchard of dangleberries, and he`s gonna be peppering his future opponents with these pellets. ;)

RE: New alltime best gremlin!

Actually I`d like to see the number of wins being multiplied by a number in the region of x15, so that the number of wins accounts for approximately 60 or 70% of the total ranking points.
Most leagues of any sort are based on the number of wins, so I think that number of wins should have more significance than the total XP accumulated when determining league positions.

RE: New alltime best gremlin!

Personally I don`t really mind as tbh I think the new ranking system is better, and anyway Paaaaarps looks set to make a big impression on the alltime league. :)

EDIT: I`d like to see number of wins, though, having more weight when determining the rankings. Imo the points gained from wins should be either x10, x11, or x12 instead of x3, which would make the importance of wins against XP fairly equal.

RE: New alltime best gremlin!

Oi! Change it back, that`s not fair. What a cheat. :(

How can the alltime best gremlin now not be the alltime best? and not only that but be shoved down to 6th position? King Lionel has been the most dominant gremlin so far. I lost count of the number of days that he was number 1 in the league.
So how can this be? Change it back, it ain`t right! >:(

RE: Fight code version 3 (development starting soon)

Another idea that`s already been mentioned several times is doing something to stop those on holiday, or those unable to use their computer everyday from being penalised by their gremlin ageing when they`re away.
One possible solution might be to do a check on each gremlin every day, and if the gremlin hasn`t issued or accepted any challenges during that day, then stop it from ageing a day.

Taunts? i.e. messages you can enter when issuing a challenge

I prefer it like it is at the moment i.e. having to taunt opponents via the forums. That way it keeps the Gremlins Forum lively with a decent amount of threads and posts.
Also, I enjoy reading some of the taunting that goes on. :)

RE: nice one chewie!

Well I`d be a bit concerned if I were Poddle as Paaaaaarps is building up a few of his "specials" for their first encounter. :p

RE: C`mon Paaaaarps Challenge me !!!

Return Of The Thing has passed out!

I`m not surprised. Paaaaarps had a few rippers brewing up. ;)

RE: C`mon Paaaaarps Challenge me !!!

I forgot Paaaaarps had 1 challenge left today. Challenge made. :)

RE: nice one chewie!

You`d both better keep a watch out for Paaaaarps as he`s nearly ready to take on the big boys. In a matter of only days he`s managed to propel himself high up the table leaving other gremlins for dead in a cloud of gas, and he`s now looking forward to more trumpeting shenanigans. ;)

RE: Request

..and if there`s room, how about adding the number of days spent as No. 1? 8)

RE: Flageroster RIP

Well I can`t see it happening myself as Paaaaarps is already way ahead in wins and strength. :p
Unless I do what I did with Lionel and store up the XP in order to make things more interesting by giving his rivals a chance. ;) 8)

RE: Flageroster RIP

:D

A touching tribute to a fearsome adversary and one of the alltime greats.
R.I.P. Flagerosters :(

RE: R.I.P Oogle

A sad loss. :(

He was a very brave and durable little chickengremlinthingy. Booted, battered and throttled on countless occasions, and that`s just from King Lionel, and yet he still always came back for more. He`ll be sorely missed.

R.I.P. Oogle.

Is Lionel in God Mode?

IMO you shouldn`t be saying things like that. My head`s swelled big enough as it is after guiding King Lionel to legendary status (the Ali of Gremlins); if it gets any bigger then it`ll explode. ;)
Anyway, Paaarps has already lost quite a few fights as it is, but he loves his food and Mash is one of his favourites. :)

Sod the undertakers. Better get a skip ordered cos there`s gonna be loads of `em keeling over tonight. Less than an hour and a half to go. :D
