E55 working for a few minutes then powering off
My Panasonic E55 DVD-Recorder has developed a problem in the last few days. After 6 months of reliable service, it now works for only 5 minutes after having the mains lead inserted. During these 5 minutes I can view existing disks, look at the contents of a disk, program and start a recording, but then the machine just stops. The front panel goes blank as it it has been un-plugged. The only way to get a response is to remove the cable and re-insert, but this only lasts another 5 minutes. I have tried the cable in a hi-fi unit, and it lasted for the hour that I left it.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I bought it boxed and new from eBay last year, but without any guarrantee, and I was hoping for some inspired advice to get me back on the road without an expensive and unjustifiable trip to the repairers.
Thanks.
RE: E55 only responding to top and bottom 3 rows of remote control keys
Thanks everyone for your suggestions - the working buttons made the beep with the radio, the dead buttons made no noise, so definitely the remote has a problem and the batteries are OK. Can`t work the remote through the set-up commands, even if do it purely by the book. Having to resort to buying new remote from Panasonic store for £25. Bit of a damn shame. :(
E55 only responding to top and bottom 3 rows of remote control keys
After two months of smooth functioning, our remote control for our Panasonic E55 DVD-Recorder has gone on the blink. At the moment, only the top 3 rows of buttons, and the bottom 3 rows are working. Unfortunately, these don`t include the main menu buttons for setting the timing, reviewing and deleting contents of the disk and other useful features. There are a handful of buttons on the machine itself to play and ff/frwd, but little else. Our RAM disks are filling up and we can`t clear any space.
Does anyone have any ideas? I have powered the machine off for a few minutes, but to no good effect. I`d be grateful for any useful suggestions...
