RE: MP3 Player recommendations
On the D2 can anybody tell me when scheduling a FM recording does the unit have to be left switched on until the programme has recorded or does it go into a low power standby mode like a VCR etc. I am asking as I would want to record radio programs around 5 in the morning before I wake up.
RE: MP3 Player recommendations
I suppose I will understand what you mean when I actually start using one. Still trying to decide about buying the 8gb version for the extra £30 or to get the 4gb and get a 4 gb card for £8 when necessary.
RE: MP3 Player recommendations
So does that mean it makes no difference or as easy to locate a song if its in the main memory or on the SD card ?
RE: MP3 Player recommendations
I haven`t placed the order yet, I`m still trying to decide if I should fork out the extra £30 to get the 8gb. what are the disadvantages of recording onto a SD card. I have read the tracks are not shown on the main menu but I don`t really know the disadvantages of that.
Re. the DAB, the thing is I only listen to radio 4 (voice programmes) which is usually the strongest station around here in Leeds anyway.
Re. the timer record on radio. Does the D2 switch itself on at the preset time or does it have to be left powered on for the programme to be recorded. Cant find any details in the pdf manual.
RE: MP3 Player recommendations
Yes your right. Thanks for that. It through me when they offered a AC charger at a reduced price when ordered with the D2. They also include a case so all I need is the line-in adaptor.
RE: MP3 Player recommendations
For example, you can enable/disable the Resume setting. Also, I have mine set up so that I can lock the touch screen but still change the volume, pause and skip forward to the next track by using the 3 buttons on the top of the player.
Thanks for the reply. Is how to configure the above in the manual. If not I would be interested in how to set it up.

RE: MP3 Player recommendations
Just coming back to the D2 / Zen X Fi discussion, I think I will still go for the D2 as the Zen does not seem to record from the radio and defiantly does not have timer record. I am just starting out with MP3 and read with interest the above comments about different files and sizes. I am thinking that the 4gb version of D2 will be adequate for my limited range of 60`s - 80`s music and I can always expand with a SD card although I understand this will not be available in the main memory. I don`t think I will be storing much video or photo`s.
Regarding the resume track I read that if you pause a track the D2 goes straight back and resumes that track on switch on or do I have to create a book mark or something .
The ones that are sold in the UK do not come with a AC adaptor at £99.99 so will any USB charger be compatible?
RE: MP3 Player recommendations
Ive been reading loads of reviews but as yet not from owners for the Zen X -Fi. Its hard to decide without actually handling and hearing them
RE: MP3 Player recommendations
I understand that with a firmware upgrade the volume buttons can be changed to a track advance by moving the power button to hold. I will probably go for the non DAB 4gb FM version for £99.99 from Advanced MP3. Thanks for the link.

RE: MP3 Player recommendations
I think I might well go for the D2 after all as it has been confirmed to me that the iRver E100 does not actually have timer record on the radio as mentioned on some reviews and the iRiver website and this is a feature I would use on a regular basis. I also like the fact everyone says it has good sound quality. Just hope I can easily operate the touch screen at the side of the bed and advance the track with the button on the side while in the car.
RE: MP3 Player recommendations
Had a look at the reviews on the SanDisk and coincidentally I was having a look at one in Curry`s Monday. I found the touch wheel a bit hit and miss. As there was nothing stored on it I couldn`t test out the track resume.
So with the D2 without looking at the screen do you think I could reach over and tapping the screen with my finger do you think I could tap it in the right place once I got used to it to select the player resume a track. I like the idea of having a timer record on the radio on the iRiver E100 and the D2 has that as well right.
RE: MP3 Player recommendations
Just had a look at the D2 and the Zen. The D2 looks like it has everything I would want but the touch sensitive screen. My main concern is not so much that I cant manage technology in fact I have always been into it but I want something I can switch on at the side of the bed without having to look at it, just by feel and then resume a track I have recorded onto the player. What would be the steps in doing this with the D2 and the Zen when it arrives. PS I like the Sony bu tit dosnt have the radio Have been looking at the iRiver E100

MP3 Player recommendations
I want to buy my first MP3 player. It must have function buttons that can be felt in the dark rather than touch sensitive controls, Radio, Mic recording. I want a player that I can just switch on and go to the same track where I left off so I don`t know if they all do that. Line in would be a plus. I want it mainly for audio so sound quality goes without saying. Any recommendations.
Problems with Sharpe TU-R160HA
I have had this for about a week. I have noticed that about once every evening it does not respond to the remote and I have to unplug from mains then power up and then its OK. Also a few times I have the sound but no picture only the channel info and I have to unplug and power up to correct. I am thinking of taking it back. It has the V 6.7 software. Any one else had this.
RE: Upscaling DVD Player
Yes thats what I wanted to know, thanks
Upscaling DVD Player
I have a Pan DMR ES 10 DVD recorder. I am thinking of buying a Tevion upscaling DVD player with free HDMI lead. Can anyone tell me if this will enable me to upscale my old DVD`s and record them onto my Panasonic. I don`t have a HD TV.
Region question
I have been recording TV programmes on my Panasonic DVD recorder using a RAM disk and then use TMPGEnc to make a -R DVD which I have done many times successfully. I live in the UK and I have sent a freind in the USA disk`s which she has atemted to play on her new PAL compatable player which she say she got from Seer`s. She says some play and some don`t. I may have sent her one or two -R disks than I made directly on my Panasonic recorder but I am sure I finalised them. Are the recordings on my Panasonic and from TMPGEnc region free and if so any body got any ideas why they are not playing.
RE: DVD Author 2.1.5.77 Pro Help
Since posting this I have noticed that the files were copied to my HD but the progress bar is still empty and no video when I click on settings. I only wanted to use this prog over the !.5 version as it has the compression feature. ANY HELP PLEASE.
DVD Author 2.1.5.77 Pro Help
have have been using TMPGEnc 1.5 for about a year now to transfer my RAM recordings made on my Panny DMRES 10 onto a -R with good results.
I have just tried to use DVD Author Pro 2.1.5.77 to do the same process. I clicked on Start new project and the on the source wizard and under source selected the DVD-Video, DVD-VR, DVD_RAM. I then get a box saying the DVD you selected contains an unsupported audio stream. Supported audio are MPEG audio, linear PCM. When I click OK it lists the DVD-Video recording selection and the Title list I have on the disk. It says they are Dolby digital 4,800Hz, 2 ch stereo then on the right MPEG 2 704X576, 4:3
When I tick the selection box and click next the box comes up copying selected titles to hard drive and the progress bar goes from left to right. After it finishes there is no video in the size of output folder and when I click on the track settings there is no video available.
What am I doing wrong?? Any help appreciated.
Camera Quicktime movies have audio delay
I am a newbie and I have a Nikon Coolpix 4800 and I recently decided to back up the Quicktime movies using Nero 7. They are no longer than about 30 sec each. I tried making a Video CD and a DVD-Video. In both cases the sound had a slight delay about 500ms and was out of sync when played on my Panasonic DMR-ES10. Does anybody know of the simplest way of bringing it back into sync.
RE: TMPGEnc DVD Author help please
I don`t know about encoding but it does take my RAM disc`s and turn them into DVDs
Doesn`t any one have any idea`s about my problem
RE: TMPGEnc DVD Author help
I think the only difference is that 1.6 is double sided. I haven`t been having any problems until recently. Tried un installing and and re installing with no improvement.
TMPGEnc DVD Author help please
I have been using this programme version 1.5.20.62 for about a year with no problems. I use it to convert my RAM recordings made on my Panny to a DVD. Recently while copying the DVD video data I have noticed it sometimes cuts off before the whole of the blue segment bar display has shown that the whole of the recording has been copied. It then misses out the copying chapter info and goes to the Add clip screen. When I play the DVD in my panny only the part that has been copied is there. The whole of the RAM disc recording plays ok on my panny. I have also noticed that when creating a menu the clip (where you pick out the thumb nail) it contains the whole of the video data that has been copied rather than the first few minutes
It doesn`t`t do it every time and it happens on different RAM disc`s. I have tried un installing the TMPGEnc and then re installing with the same happening. The RAM disc was not edited on the Panny. Any help appreciated

RE: RAM to -R without using TMPG DVD AUTHOR 1.6 Help
I checked my Nero and it looks like I have the cut down version ( no Nerovision or photo and video ) so I could not try what you suggested. Yes it looks like I will have to save for TMPG DVD AUTHOR 1.6. Many thanks for your advice and help.
I tried using Decrypter in the non ISO mode but I get Auto file system parsing failed with a RAM disc in the drive.
RE: RAM to -R without using TMPG DVD AUTHOR 1.6 Help
I am using NERO Start Smart that came with the LG4163.
OK I will try D/L a trial of the programme you found.
Thanks for the help I can see now that the RAM wasn`t converted.
RE: RAM to -R without using TMPG DVD AUTHOR 1.6 Help
Thanks for helping. I am a newbie to all this as you will have realised, but if the -RW copy disc played on my Panasonic recorder then why won`t the -R. Are you saying that DVD Decrypter did not convert the RAM files.

RAM to -R without using TMPG DVD AUTHOR 1.6 Help
I copied a RAM disc made on my Panasonic onto my HD using DVD Decrypter using ISO mode and then burned it onto a -RW. It played ok on my Panasonic. I then tried to burn the same image onto a -R. When I tried to play it on my Panasonic it says unsupported. Do I need to finalise the -R and how do I do this. I cannot find anything in Decrypter.
I have tried TMPG DVD Author 1.6 but the rial period expired and I cant afford to buy it.
I have just tried to copy the -RW disc (which played ok on my Pan DMR ES10) with Nero and that would not play on my Pan. or my LG4163 DVD writer. I am using Maxell discs in both cases. Am I doing something wrong in using Decrypter...I don`t know.
Can anyone recommend a free programme to copy RAM to -R. and the mode to use within it. I am just interested in copying the whole disc as I can edit in my Panasonic
