RE: Multiregion hack for the Akura ADVR171S DVD Recorder

That turned out to be a little wrong it should be:

Let DVD door in open mode

Press SET UP button

Press number button "7224"

Press EDIT button

The region code information appears - use the up and down arrows to select your desired region (0 is all regions), then press ENTER to confirm it

I haven`t tried dvd-dvd copying yet - you could try another 4 number combo to turn off macrovision (or email Akura).

RE: Multiregion hack for the Akura ADVR171S DVD Recorder

Press number button "7224"

If you want to see what this machine looks like and see some setup screen shots in case they look like another model look here:

RE: Need help to de-regionalise DVD recorder

Just posted the same message below a few days ago.

I`ve not found hide nor hair about this recorder.

Detective work so far indicates that the old Akura box for the 171S (see http://www.akura.com/DVD/advr171s.html) looks suspiciously similar to the Tech-Europe DVR-3001 (see http://www.tech-europe.co.uk/index.php?show=DVDRecorder2).

I may try and email Akura and Tech Europe and see if they have any information or could tell me who makes the chip-set for the recorder.

Keep me informed of what you find out

My e-mail address is ron .at. strong .dot. org .dot. uk
(replace the .at. and .dot. with the obvious @ and . )

Multiregion hack for the Akura ADVR171S DVD Recorder discovered

Anyone know a multiregion hack for the Akura ADVR171S DVD Recorder?

Since I can`t find any mention of this on any forum is it a badge engineered other machine with a known hack?

It may be the same as the Eurotech DVR-3001 (the picture on the www.akura.com which bears no resemblance to the box I`ve got looks just the same as the picture of that machine on the www.tech-europe.co.uk site)

Bought from Macro for 99+VAT today.

Thanks
