Page 1 of Need help to de-regionalise DVD recorder

Hi guys, hope some of you can help. Just bought an Akura DVD recorder Model
ADVR171S. Needless to say it is region 2. Want to make it Multi Region `cause I think I might have found a way to record from another DVD player but the Akura has to be Multi region. Could use any advice to help me get there. If successful I`ll post details.

Just posted the same message below a few days ago.

I`ve not found hide nor hair about this recorder.

Detective work so far indicates that the old Akura box for the 171S (see http://www.akura.com/DVD/advr171s.html) looks suspiciously similar to the Tech-Europe DVR-3001 (see http://www.tech-europe.co.uk/index.php?show=DVDRecorder2).

I may try and email Akura and Tech Europe and see if they have any information or could tell me who makes the chip-set for the recorder.
