Doubt it if you are recommending Atacama stands. Therefore your comments are a non entity.

I am also pretty damn sure that Atacama Nexus 6 stands are EVER SO SLIGHTLY too large for the JBL esc333 speakers mentioned. Probably a bit of a stupid idea paying £50 for stands for a system that probably cost £149.99.

I believe ikea are doing some stands at £9.99 a pair that would suit your needs nicely. Likewise, Index.

why can`t we have more albums like this, Hybrids last effort would be a real stormer in 5.1!

Perhaps older record labels like r&s, react, Guerilla etc. should consider releasing DVDs in 5.1 format. Kinda like greatest hits but more epic.

Also any BT album would rock. Please post your favourite candidate/s for house, techno etc albums for the 5.1 treatment.

Go for 3 scarts at £12 for tv to dvd, video and sky, set dvd to RGB,
Also budget £12 for an optical cable. You can buy these from dixons, scarts are jvc and of decent quality, optical is Gamester for playstation2, again o.k.

If you then feel you need to improve scart between tv-dvd, consider the ixos mentioned above.

RE: volume of amp for DVD & other sources?

Where is your sub?

Placing it in the corner can greatly amplify bass frequencies although it can also sound a bit "boomy".

Have you checked all speaker levels? I tend to have my centre much higher than my fronts in volume.

How close are your speakers relative to your listening position?
If you room is larger, or speakers further away than in your mates house, this could explain the difference.

Optical and coaxial connections have much lower signal volume than phono connections as a rule. This may be causing the problem.

Two points:-

1)A friend of mine bought an item for £8.99, and was offered a warranty costing £9.99!!!

*sorry, lewjosh, but you are talking absolute c**p, cheapest warranty is £12, not £9.99

2)I always wondered about haggling, getting the discounted warranty and then cancelling it inside the usual cooling off period.

Would I then effectively get a discount on the goods?
(as they usually arrange for a discount equal to the cost of the warranty)

Just a thought.


*No, on your receipt it will state that the price paid was for inclusion of said warranty and no amount of argument would stop them deducting any discount off the item.
