can the samsung 709 play vcds?

my mate has got one but it doesn`t seem to play them.

Yep

But I can only say that it plays the silver/pressed type. Haven`t tried it with CD-R type VCD`s, but the manual says it`s not compatible. Some bods have got CD-Rs to work but only certain types - not the blue/green dye types like TDK etc

(BTW I`m using Firmware V2.28.)
