RE: Help Needed with Freeview SurroundSound Setup

Hi there,

at the moment there is no point in connecting you freeview box to your surround sound setup with a digital link as there is no surround sound broadcasted via DTT (Digital terestrial TV). A phono lead woud be all that you require. But as suggested already, if you do still want to link it digitally you can use a tosslink cable... but its pretty much pointless!

RE: drop road tax and fuel duty and charge per mile what do you think

Well I have mixed opinions about this. I agree with the idea on priciple and the ultimate aim is to get cars off the road, which I think it would easily achieve. But I do think that the current amounts they are suggesting to charge are too high.

Personally I get the train every day to work. This is not because I am a environmentalist nut either, I live close to a train station and it is quicker and cheaper than driving into Manchester. I am also a keen cyclist and can happily get about on my bike for many journeys. So for most of the time I would be unaffected.

But this week I am off to a festival (Donnington) I need to set off at about rush hour as I have to pick a bunch of guys up and we need to get there before all the decent sites are taken up. This trip of around 100 miles - 1/2 of which would be in rush hour at least would potentially cost me around £90 under proposed plans. Then probably about £25 petrol!! Its crazy money. For people who commute large distances to work it would be absolutely crippling! People would be forced to live closer to their place of work (Or at least choose a location that provides good public transport links).
