is the alba 113 any good or not and should it play cdr discs

problem playing proof of life dvd and reading cdr audio disk.
taken the player back and exchanged it for replacement still same problem with new player
swapped dvd disk for another copy
been on to alba help line and they say take the player back
it played a copy of space cowboy ok
anyone had any similar problems or could it be a bad batch of players
it appears to have the latest software installed but still will not read cdr??
help please!!

I purchased a watson 28" widescreen from makro and can`t fault it.
It cost£189.99 + vat.
Picture is brilliant and it auto formats and also sound is good.
