Just purchased one too and at the moment, it looks as if it has to be chipped.

An earlier posting suggested a software hack was possible, but didn`t explain how it could be done.

Waiting for further news on this one.

A pity as I have borrowed a friends region 1 X Men which isnt out in region 2 format until march.

Was going to publish a request for a hack for the Pioneer DV 530 but after reading this one, I don`t need to.

You say it needs a software download or upgrade chip..... I don`t really want to do the upgrade chip option, so how does the software download work?

Where do I get one from and is it a case of burning the code onto a cd then inserting it in the player?
