RECORD TV FROM YOUR DVD

Does anyone know when we will be able to buy a DVD player that will be a DVD recorder that we can record channels from our TV`s and playback the programme in the same way as a Video Recorder records from your TV...... BigPaulH

I dont mind some advertisments as long as they are not professional traders. There just may be something that is cheap and worth buying. I am always looking out for bits and peices like films and video recorders etc. Yes I agree that reading peoples technical knowledge about dvd`s tv`s and video`s is great and since I have used your site I am getting to understand a bit more about dvd players. But its not such a bad thing if the person who`s selling is a genuine private seller. Maybe you could have a section dedicated to buy sell and swop films, dvd players, components, video recorders, Tv`s etc etc but the people using this service must be absolutley private... The traders are taking a right liberty using this site for greed and promoting their businesses for f**k all...

Le-Borne... I have been reading about your life style and you are one pathetic Haddock.. We all have good social lives and holidays and good income. Ive got a home cinema and a nice car. The only thing I`m missing out on that you have is not having a gorgeous girlfriend like you have. Iv`e got a big fat 17 stone wide mouth wife that smokes 50 a day, drinks 5 nights a week, stays in bed until after lunch, dont wash up or clean the house, sits and eats 14 bags of crisps each day and makes the house smell. Ironduke... We do not have a s*** hot tv. Its only a Toshiba. It does us and is on 18 hours a day. We would not know how to set it up to Nicam or Prologic tv. Your getting too advanced in tech for us. You asked us to try it in Nicam or Dolby. What is the point of us doing this when you tell me that if I change the settings to Nicam or Dolby then I wont be able to play my mp3 cds. Dont get why you want me to try other settings, we are happy with current settings as everything works properly... BigPaulH

When we play our mp3 music discs on our S536D we set onscreen digital out in audio set up to on, and then set mp3 to mpeg in tv set up in the display. We are not really up on technical things and its all try and error with us. I can assure you our music mpeg cds play properly.. BigPaulH.

KARL... Someone has informed you wrong... The Sony S536D is an automatic Multi-Region system dvd player. Dont listen to everyone because they will misiform you. We have bought one and it is a Muti-Region system.. BigPaulH

IRONDUKE: after reading your comments about Mp3 wont play on our 536. We have lots of copied Mp3 cd`s with lots of assorted albums on them We have an mp3 album with 5 of the beatles albums on it. Our 536 plays them perfect. Who ever told you that it dont play them has mislead you....BigPaulH

Stonecutter.. Me and my wife run a foster home for up to 13 problem kids. They range from 11 years old to 16 years so it dont take long for the kids to watch films now they are off school. They are all on Police curfue so they watch films all day and evening. No I dont have a life because I dedicate my life to unfortunate London Kids.... BigPaulH

ALBA v SONY.. ITS NOT A JOKE

We bought 2 DVD players an Alba 103 in the boxing day sales at only £99.99 and a Sony S563D at £429 not bought in the sales. We cant tell what one is better. They both play all films, they both play VCD films that someone gave us. We have tried copied films done on a PC and both dvd players will play everything we put in. They both have Mpeg... We have now tried 53 films titles including, some vcd films and some Blockbusters rentals and some copied films done on a PC. Both dvd players will play every single film we have tried. We have tried Stuart Little and Gladiators disk 2 and they both play without a problem, we have read that these titles will not play. Can someone else tell me I`m a mug for buying the Sony at £429 and wasting my money when I could have bought 2 loverly Alba players at £99.99p each. I could have saved £329 because we cannot see any diffence in quality on screen and cant understand why all and every disc will play on both dvd`s. Before someone tells me the Sony 536 is in Dixons sale at £349 (I know it is). Can someone tell me why the sony is suppost to be better than Alba when its no different....

Makro`s do a 28 inch Nicam Stereo with Dolby they are a Silver case, Widescreen TV made by Goodmans. Loverly picture. We bought 2 at Raliegh in Essex for £198 each... We are right happy and so are my 2 kids, they like their bedrooms now... BigPaulH

Hi Jimbo. Thanks for replying to my message. We bought the player this evening for £260. We did price them up this evening on the websites for Comet/Dixons and Currys costing between £349 and £379 so we think we got a bargain (we hope). We havnt opened it yet its still in the box. We hope this will be a nice player and it will suit our needs. The 370 would have been our 1st choice but we could not get discount. Our friend works for Sony in their offices and got us discount as he said it was for himself. BigPaulH

ADVICE WANTED & WHAT`S A CODE ?

We are buying a Sony 536 DVD player. It is a Multi-Region system that has Dolby Digital with Mpeg, that supports vcd, Mpeg, Mp3, PAL / NTSC / DVD / VIDEO CD playback. It has 5.1 built in decoder. It says it has a fully functional Automatic all-region play back system. Do we have to enter any special codes or will everything be done automatically when we plug it in?. If we need to do anything to it can some-one tell us what we will need to do and how do we do it in idiot proof jargen ??? We know absolutley nothing about dvd`s. This is our first dvd player and the more we read from you technicall people the more confused we are getting. We did not know there was so much to take in. We have read many reports on this reviewer site and other sites and this Sony seems to have all we will need (unless you tell us different). We were going to buy one of those loverly cheap and nasty £99 systems, but we have been told to avoid buying crap if possible. Please tell us what we may need to know and any advice we may need. The best bargain is the Silver Goodmans 28 inch wide screen tv with Dolby surround 2 scart sockets and a lovely picture. This is only £198 in the stores called Makros UK. We bought 3 for £600. Thats a bargain.

ADVICE ABOUT SONY 536

Can you tell me if the Sony S536 is a decent dvd player. I have been offered one and I am unsure of its capabilities and reliability. Is it Multi- Region, does it support vcd mpeg mp3 and will it play most disks. Thank you all for your advice. CAN ANYONE HELP

I am very confused about buying a dvd player. I have read so much forum banter. It seems that I need to purchase a Multi-Region dvd/vcd that is Mpeg and MP3 compatable and will play any disks. Can any one suggest what is the best value dvd system that I should buy that is under £200. I have seen a write up on the Lecson-900 at £179 and this seems to have a very good write up. I have also seen the write up for the Alba-130 that also says its great value at £139. Is anyone selling a dvd that has all the functions and spec I need or I have been told I need. Can anyone suggest where I can buy a new dvd or a perfect working 2nd hand dvd player for sensible money. I have found in many papers, mags and Internet bargain pages, hundreds of 2nd hand dvd players for sale from £60 upwards. I dont want to do my money buying the wrong dvd player then everyone saying to me that I should not have bought that one, you should have bought this one. Any advice will be taken onboard and if you know what and where I can buy the right player for the right money, please suggest. Thanks for your help.. BigPaulH in the Essex area.
