RE: Black Adder complete all 4 series box set

Yes it does include `The Cavalier Years` and a few extra bits of historical stuff and biogs by Tony Robinson. However unfortunately `Back and Forth` is full frame, not widescreen.

It is good to watch Everything oin chronological order though.

RE: Best place for Books?

My favourite book search engine is http://www.addall.com

Well DVDsoon have it at £22.

RE: T3 - what does James Cameron think?

Yes they certainly improved on Cameron`s unfortunate gung ho militaristic `aliens` - with its gratutious sentiment regarding `newt` - beautifully disposed of in the dark ill-fated sequel :) .

RE: LOTR: TT: EE

No problem on the Pioneer 656A. Don`t like the way the film is split though - couldn`t they have done a `fade to black`? But apart from that looks and sounds very good indeed.

RE: I want one of those. £5 voucher off £30

Yes and if you dig deeper (e.g. click `For Men`) you find info on lots of other discounts e.g. £50 off at Currys.

RE: Rising Damp 4 DVD Withdrawn???

Well I watched `Stand up and be counted` last night, but it cannot be construed as libellous now as they have digitally masked out the labour candidates name from a poster and changed the closing credits so that no name is given there either. There doesn`t seem to be any cuts to dialogue, but if there are then they are undetectable without a script in front of you. The running time of the episode is actually longer than previous one!

It is a poor set really - but the only one available. The packaging is robust enough, but there are no animated menus or scene selections(!) the video and sound quality are merely fair (nothing like the quality of the `playback` releases); poorly researched, the episodes in series one are out of order and the `Christmas Special` is apparently fogotten.

Roll on the ultimate edition!

RE: Alien Quadrilogy R2 at HMV for for £44.99

Have you a link for this version info? I thought there was just a missing commentary on the UK version.

Still UK packaging is supposed to be better...

RE: Alien Quadrilogy R2 at HMV for for £44.99

Last time I checked, the exchange rate made it £40.

Still a good price, but NTSC though...

RE: A little PC help needed please! Pt. 1 (PowerDVD)

Can`t be talking about the hardware drivers. Must be the DVD decoder which is licensed and is supposed to cost you. Try doing a search on `cinemaster` and taking it from there.

RE: Broadband for £11.75

Yes - but the woman or man said it was capped at 23.99.

BTW - I`M SPARTACUS!

RE: Alien Quad Shipped

Wouldn`t it have been a nice touch if the UK version had been called `The Alien Tetraology`. They might have sold twice as many copies as well :D

RE: 5.1 active speaker system under £ 30.00

`Active` means self amplified, although the indication from the email is that only the subwoofer is `Active`. To get 5.1 sound you need a decoder - most DVD players do that now. Check if yours has 5 (or more) line-level phono outputs.

Grundig DVD Recorder

Don`t know if this is old news. Somebody buy it and tell me what its like...

RE: Region 2 Temple of Doom UNCUT is available...

You can get the Dutch and French version at DVD Zone 2

http://www.dvdzone2.com/dvd/search.asp?t=1&kw=indiana+jones&kwt=t&pl=all

but I am only assuming the Dutch version is uncut.

The Finnish Version - hmm seemed to have lost my scandanavian link. Last used it to get Gosford PArk.

Found the Scandavian site - it was actually the Norwegian version of Gosford Park I had bought.

RE: alan partridge...what would you do?

Get all 3 seperately for for £41.97 from play. And yes there does appear to be deleted scenes on series 1. BTW, wasn`t series 1 originally deleted for including copyrighted material without paying for it?

RE: Alien Directors Cut

Doesn`t the extra commentary track mean that other things are getting squeezed. The main reason for Region 2 (apart from re-saleability) is picture quality surely?

As far as I know the DTS soundtracks are only available on the first two films of the tetraology in region 2 - again a space matter...

RE: Region 2 Temple of Doom UNCUT is available...

The Dutch version is a lot cheaper on DVD Zone 2. Can one presume that is `uncut` also.

?

RE: Argos Bush freeview box cheap!!!!

yes what does non-interactive mean? You can`t change channels, get teletext, what?

RE: BTTF Part III - Replacement Disc

Try them - you might like them! I watched the originals without noticing a problem at all. Nevertheless I sent for the replacment as it was free an easy (so long aga that I forgot about it) and I got them yesterday. I don`t know what generation of replacement they are though... When I have 3 or 4 hours to spare I might compare them.

RE: Rising Damp - The Complete Works (Incomplete)

Yes it was worth getting. They got mine from `round the back`. However the price was 5 quid more than on their website - which could not deliver anyway because it was TOS.

So there are two possible reasons it was withdrawn:

1. To sort out the correct price (stickered to the box).
2. The libel issues pertaining to `stand up and be counted` (which have prevented its appearance on VHS) have not actually been resolved. I don`t remember the episode but the name of an actual living MP was inserted into the script at the last minute as Rigsby`s election opponent - who was, of course, roundly insulted by Rigsby. Perhaps the guy still has issues? If that is the case then it obviously does add value to the box set! ;)

Rising Damp - The Complete Works (Incomplete)

At last "stand up and be counted" is released (all I remember is Risgsby in a Wilson Ganex).

But :( Can you believe it? - the set does NOT include the Christmas Special "For the man who has everything" You still have to the "The best of" to get that.

Oh and they have juxtaposed a couple of episodes in the first series as well...

A W.H.Smiths exclusive indeed!

What a bunch of tossers!

RE: Why isn`t any of the R1 sites listing Alien Quadrilogy?

Best bet is amazon.co.uk 48.99 because they don`t charge your card until despatch...unless you have the CD Wow discounts although they do charge straightaway. But both retailer`s service is peerless.

I wish I could find out more about the Alien 3 versions in the set...

Norman

RE: Savings on nearly everything form CD wow links to cheap mobile phones etc

I take it all back - the link is there - just search for CD Wow
