RE: Tips for Barcelona...?
I've been twice now, and absolutely love Barcelona. Would even consider living there eventually.
I stayed at Chic & Basic Born Hotel, which is a ten minute walk from Las Ramblas.

There's also a newer Chic & Basic Ramblas. I'd still recommend staying in El Born though. If Chic & Basic isn't your thing (it's an acquired taste for sure), there's other accommodation nearby. The area's perfect though- chocolate museum on your doorstep, the zoo is right round the corner, the beach/port/aquarium is ten minutes walk in one direction, and Las Ramblas is ten minutes the other way- to get to which, you head through the Gothic quarter, which in itself has tons of sights. There's also plenty of bars and stuff right there.
The tourist bus service is great two. There's two different routes if I remember right, with a bunch of stuff to see- La Sagrada Familla, a cable car ride, Jean Miro museum, Nou Camp, Park Guell etc...
Do watch out for pickpockets when sitting about the parks, or on Las Ramblas though. I 've never had a problem, but it pays to be vigilant.
Hopefully this is helpful...

RE: Is there any point in buying a blu-ray of an older film?
Just popping my head in to second the recommendation for The Uinversal Monsters set on BD... it really is a fantastic purchase.

RE: Grindhouse ****NO SPOILERS****
Planet terror`s alot of fun Rob, particularly if you`re into Rodriquez`s other stuff. The cast are fantastic, and it`s chock full of various amusing technical effects that make it look nicely retro. I thought Death Proof was the bettter film, but Terror is much more accessible.

RE: Gareth Edwards` Monsters
Going to throw in another recommendation for this, for anyone who hasn`t seen it.
I`m with Si- i thought this was a really unique take on an individual situation, much like Battle Los Angeles.
Certainly a very quiet, beautifully shot film though, and not the alien invasion specactular some perhaps expected. It actually remeinded me somewhat of Lost in Translation.

RE: Suggestions for Halloween please
"The Hole" that Ben mentioned is the film with Thora Birch I believe, and not the film by Joe Dante that people are suggesting.
Even with THAT scene, i think Poltergeist would be just fine. I certainly enjoyed it as a kid. The Frighteners is a tremendous choice,as is Tremors. They`re all great family horror flicks.
I`d add in Arachnophobia and what about something like Mimic, or The Facualty? Though my memory is hazy on those two.
For me, I`ve went with Blu-rays of The Omen, Brian DePalma`s Obsession, Poltergeist, and In their Sleep on DVD. Obviously, I don`t have kids!

RE: Public Enemies DVD soundtrack duff? (Michael Mann)
I have the region 2 DVD, and no problems soundtrack wise for me.
Strange indeed.
There were alot of people complaining about the film`s sound in general, but it was more along the lines of the dialogue being difficult to hear at times, and sound effects being obscenely loud.
I put it down to Michael Mann going for a realistic, disorientating feel though.

RE: The Human Centipede (*that* horror flick)
The Dentist is really similar in that it`s carried by the villain, even though he`s not in the slightest bit sympathetic, and it`s really good fun, if you can get past the traumatic idea of it!
The Dentist 2- "You know the drill!"
Can definitely understand anyone being put off by the concept of human centipede though, but for me it was nowhere near approaching the shock marketing strategy behind it.

RE: Too many horror movies?
It is also disturbing that the same effect can cause people to complete neglect any sensible response, or responsibility to the sight of young child wandering about on their own!
RE: The Human Centipede (*that* horror flick)
I have to say I actually enjoyed it. It was different, a throw-back to the Eighties body horror flicks, and with a nod to the sense of humour in Stuart Gordon`s films. I also thought the lead performance was something of a hoot- bordering on too camp to take seriously.
I honestly think the concept is far more disturbing than the execution (apart from maybe one or two revolting instances)/.
RE: A Tale of two sisters (Korean Movie) ?
Hey,
I`d recommend you give it another whirl after looking through the discussions on IMDB maybe. It was pretty straight forward though from what I remember.. I loved Tale of Two Sisters, but at that point I`d been watching alot of Asian stuff that really helped me get into the vibe.
I wouldn`t recommend The Uninvited though, personally i thought it was complete and utter rubbish!
