RE: Matrix Reloaded - SPOILERS - U must have seen it by NOW !!!
My opinion....
the big twist is that Zion doesnt exist. It is part of the matrix.
As we know Neo is a program, which he realises at the end when he stops the sentinels with his hand.
How can he do that outside of the matrix?
He shut himslef down as he realises this fact. Its referred to in the first film when they told us that the first matrix was so perfect, people rejected it. So, the imperfect matrix is running where they have to run through the same life cycle every few years. Eventually `the one` relative to that matrix make his/her decision and saves a few, pro-creates, the AI digests the humans and it all begins again.
As the architect explained, this is the sixth time it has happened, only this time Neo made a different choice to the other `ones` and chooses Trinity. Therefore, revolutions will be the true liberation of mankind.
Agent Smith has also ruined things by becoming a rogue agent- its not meant to happen, and its his new found consciousness that allows him to become the guy on the slab at the end, who was responsible for setting if the EMP early and thus slaughtering the planned defence of Zion.
How can Smith be so emotive, so full of hate, when he is a simple search and destroy program. Its all about Neo.
As for Persephone, not sure, but in Greek mythology when the godess of the same name kissed a man he died, which could also be the casue of neos collapse. Is Neo a man, progam or virus?
Morpheus, the Greek god of dreams, how ironic. The only true believer from day one...and a day dreamer perhaps.
As mentioned before, Trinity. Father, Son and Holy ghost, can we still expect her to die or to give birth to a child concieved in Zion?
I have also established that neo, obviously an anagram for ONE could also be taken from the word NEOPHYTE, which means beginner, to start, the first.
man what a mind job this film really is.
regards to all.
Pete.

A staggering 31 years old today.
Up early as the bloody car alarm went off at 4 am and I could not get back to sleep.
Had some nice stuff already, best of all, my wife has given me the Band of Brothers Region 1 box set with DTS sound and A night to remember Special Edtion on Region 1.
So, thanks to her.

Mission M7c1 and M7ds crossover query, please advise.
Mission M7c1 and M7ds crossover query.
Hi,
I have my M7c1 centre and my M7ds bi-pole rears set to small as advised by a realiable source.
Firstly, is that correct? When I first purchased them I was under the impression that they could be set to large as I thought that they could handle lower freq`.
However, I have since been advised that they cannot go too low and this could blow or damage the drivers.
Not a problem, as I have simply configured them to small. However, this then opens up the cross over option on my amp, a Sony strdb870, for both speakers. Presently, I have them set at 120hz which is the amps default cross-over. However, I am totally unsure how to set them to get the best from them set to small.
I understand that THX recommend 80hz as a cross-over but then again, they are not THX spec.
if you can, please advise. All advice taken on board.
By the way, the M72 fronts are set to large, no sub.
Thanks,
Pete

RE: Advice on amp & Speakers or all in one package needed
I bought the Mission M72 speaker package on the weekend. I ordered it from -
http://www.unbeatable.co.uk,
for just £282.99 + P&P.
Absolutely blown away by it. I have the M72s on stancette stands and they can hammer out bass with the best of them. In fact I have turned doen the bass output on the amp as too much, considering I live in a victorian terrace.
The centre is crystal clear and it spreads the sound very well.
The rears are awesome. Set six feet up, they have power, depth and clarity I have yet to hear in another home cinema rear speaker.
I took some advice from Westy and set the rears and centre to small, due to to the cross over but they still sound great.
Trust me here, it will not disapoint you.
Pete.
RE: 100Hz Tv`s
Nice one. From what I have seen, 100 hz improves on screen text, removing that slight judder found on sources such as sky digital.....
Pete.
RE: Ohms, a question.
Yep, I am happy for you to explain to me. And, why 4 over 8 ?
Pete.
Ohms, a question.
I am running speakers that vary between 6 and 8 ohms. Therefore, should I tell my amp to work at 4 or 8 ohms.?
Thanks,
Pee.
Question for Westy, Richard H, Andrew Bruce et al.
Guys, I have a dilemma.
I have narrowed my speaker search down to three options as far as I can tell. Can you please, if its not to much trouble, tell me the merits of each, along with the minus points if applicable.
1. Mission Cinema 6.
2. Mission Cinema 72.
3. KEF KHT2005 eggs.
obviously, there are major price differences, however, my main concern is that I have been told that the KEFs will sound totaly different to the missions. I have never had a sub sat system and apart from the benefit of it being easier on the eye I am not sure. I understand that they can lack treble and mid clarity.
Finally, I am currently using a Sony 735 DVD, and a Sony STRDB870 amp, which given the budget status of my present speakers sounds good. In the long term, I hope to reap rewards with which ever set I plum for.
Thanks in advance guys.

RE: Let`s write a story : two half-sentences each only
Magic. And yet, as I put a `de la soul` CD on the DVD player I thought, is the sound quality as good as true..

RE: Good news, the shingles is subsiding
Cant recall chicken pox being painfull, but shingles is an odd one.
Firstly, it attacks via nerve endings so you get lots a tingling aches, like extreme pins and needles. This time I have had them on the left side of my torso, my shoulder and my left arm, at times, it feels like somebody it putting knitting needles into my back and shoulder.
It manifests itself with a strange circular rash that could be used to promote Mel Gibsons new signs film..

RE: FAO Andrew Bruce....
Just completed the test. I am a resounding 26% gay.
Its a bit of a shock, learning I am a quarter gay. How do I tell the wife I have been knobing for the last ten years. Should I call samaritans..
LOL.
Thanks Andrew,
Pete
FAO Andrew Bruce....
Andrew, my wife has just been surfing, and she has asked me why you are called the 42% er. I seem to recall that you are 42% gay, 58% straight. However, can you rationalise this calculation as I hope to use it upon friends and family. Well, it made us chuckle...
Thanks,
Pete, at present, 100% straight.
Good news, the shingles is subsiding
Feeling 75% better, therefore, next sundays 1/2 marathon is looking good. I wonder if my `fitness` has got me through this along with my tablets. Just last week I ran 10 miles in 1 hour 30 with shingles unbeknown to me, so sunday bodes well.
seriously, thanks for all the kind words and comments that have kept my spirits up over the last few days. Yep, all 12 of them. Next time anyone is in Bristol ill get the beers in.
Thanks,
Pete T.

Oh No, I have shingles.
Bummer what a time to get ill.
Sat 14th Sept - Brothers wedding
Sun 22nd Sept - Running Bristol 1/2 marathon with wife
Mon 23rd Sept - off to Corfu.
Suppose I will have to watch my dvd back catalouge from a-z and hope that the 10 tablets that the doctor has given to take a day start to work.
Think of me fellow dg`ers.....
I am in agony ;)
Pete T,
of course, I can remind myself ` there is no spoon`......
I am not a parent but today my heart is heavy......
I could not stop but cry when I got up to this mornings news.
My thoughts are with the girls and the families.
If the people it looks likely to be have commited a crime, as we suspect they have, there can be zero sympathy.
These people shuld be strung up and executed. Yes, that may be strong but thats what we need. An uneduacted point of view?
No, just an angry one. Let the f*****ers rot in hell for ever in a day.
sorry.
Jesica and Holly, thinking of you.
Pete and Sue Tiley. (decent people)
I want to submit a website to multiple search engines, any suggestions...
As above.
I know there are some freeware or shareware programs that will do this for me, can anyone recommend one or two in the guise of links etc.
thanks.
Pete.
RE: Now I want you all to be honest.
OK, my turn.
Situated in the Bay window of my victorian Bristol gaf I have -
Panasonic 28" DK1, ( To go one day) sits on a Chrome and smoked glass modern unit with sliding doors.
Within this sits -
A Sony DVP735D DVD Player (RGB Loop through)
A Sony STRDB870 AV Receiver (5.1/DTS)
Panasonic SKY Digi Box
Sony VHS Machine
Next to this I have Mission Stancette Speaker stands that entertain Mission M72 speakers. the centre sits on top of the TV set and the rears are set to the side of my listening position.
To the right I have two units fixed to the wall that match the TV stand. These house my films.
I have two lilac (s*** hot) sofas with chrome legs that could be considered quite retro. Thankfully, the 2 seater is smack bang but about 3 metres back, in front of tv set so I get perfect positioning for sound and picture.
I hope to add a gamecube to that lot but I am totally skint.
Oh and we are considering selling the house and I told my wife that any property we look at would have to accomodate our mini cinema !!
saying that, I am looking out of the window now, I can see the clifton suspension bridge, the avon gorge and loads of fields. Maybe I will put a cinema room on top !!!!

RE: Titanic Special Edition???
Pesronally I think titanic is a great movie but thats by the by.
The reason I posted Chewie, is that I have something interesting for you.
A friend of mine has, for years, had re-occuring dreams about the Titanic. He was drawn to the story of the Titanic, and had thoughts which for a long time were unexplainable.
However, this guy decided to understand and research the titanic. truthfully, he managed to unearth a full passenger list of people who died, who survived and who did not sail.
Listed amongst the names of people who did not sail was
William Sims.
and my friends name,
William Sims, aka Bill.
strange one that. given that the first William Sims was listed as an middle aged employee of White Star we assume that Bill is in fact William re-incarnate.
mad one.
Cheers,
Pete.
Was Qui Gon Jin tempted by the dark side???
Title says it all.
I spoke to a Star Wars fan who insists that Qui Gon was heading for the dark side, hence his insistance on seeing Anakin trained, defying the council etc.
I argued the fact that Qui Gon saw that Anakin would bring, buy hook or by crook, balance to the force.
However, my friend argued that Qui Gon`s voice in Episode 2 is no coincidence.
Remember that his body did not disapear upon death as he was not at ease with the force.
Any other theorists out there ??
Ta,
Pete.
RE: Yamaha vs10 in silver anyone know where????
Leading Edge Concepts have it in silver as far as I am aware.
RE: What do you all do for a living ?
Civil Servant. Work on a Debt recovery section mainly calculating what naughty people owe the state when our Benefit fraud squad come knocking.
Sadly, it can involve reading interviews with people at lifes lowest ebb, on benefit and absolutely f****ed out of there heads on drugs. kids mostly too.

RE: Westy Bow`s Out....
Best wishes Westy. You are the man.
Thanks for the help mate.

RE: FAO Westy...
Cheers guys.
RE: FAO Westy...
Cheers Clayts - but despite reading all of that stuff, I still can`t really find the answer. My front speakers are in a line I am three meters away. Therefore, I pressume, after reading the DD web site that they should all be set equal - ie 3 metres away ?? Rather than my current 3 for the L/R and 1.5 for the centre.
Is that how it reads to you ??
Pete.
FAO Westy...
Westy. How is it mate? I hope all is well.
Right, I have had some conflicting evidence regarding the set up of my speakers.
One person has told me to program the centre speaker distance the same as the front L & R speaker distance centre. ie, both 3 meters.
however,
The other person has told me to reduce the centre distance by 1/2 of the L & R distance approx. So, if the fronts are set a 3 meters, the centre should be 1.5 meters. This should then create a decent soundstage.
However, I have tried both variations and I cannot detect any difference. But, for the record, what is your opinion please. To be honest I am happy with both set ups but would prefer to select one and be done with it.
Cheers mate. advice gleefully accepted.

RE: How serious are you about your AV kit etc
Well, thats pretty serious so far chaps. But I did not actually list my gear so here goes -
Sony 735 DVD player
Sony STRDB870 reciever (Westy - I can hear you groaning across the Bristol Channel but I happen to love it !!!)
Mission Stancette Speaker stands
Recycled Aiwa former pro-logic speakers includes centre, left and right front and rears. Actually not that bad until the budget can get some more.
Panasonic 28" DK1 TV set ( not bad - not great )
All supported by IXOS cabling for now.
But still, I am well chuffed.
PS; Westy and Clayts whats the verdict on the old flat panel NXT missions out there ? Much kop, or style over substance ? They seem to be coming down in price all over the web.
Pete
How serious are you about your AV kit etc
This may sound odd, but I was wondering how seriously people take the home cinema lark.
I am not advertising what I have bought over the last year but thanks to people like clayts, Westy , Rich H and so on I have developed a tasty little home cinema with the usual suspects.
DVD player
5.1/DTS rec`ver
Mission Stands
Surround Speakers
Quality leads
next step the active sub, but when I engage in conversation with fellow DVD`ers at work and at play, and ask the usual stuff like -
" how is your kit connected, RGB ? S-video ? " most people look blankly back and say " um, with a lead "
"5.1 or DTS for you then ??" ..." um, whats that ? "
The thing is, I reckon there must be a lot of people out there with AV kit poorly set up and not really getting the best performance out of it.
So, do you take it seriously, or am I worrying too much ?
By the way I was thirty last week. That my explain this inane ramble. Oh and I do talk about other stuff. (liar).. who said that ??
Pete.
RE: Where you all from then?
Bristol.
South West metropolis. LOL.
European City of culture 2008 or say they think.
How does it go -
" Bristol lad born and bred, strong in the arm - thick in the head "
although, I do have a spirit level if thats a qualification. And no, I dont drive a tractor.
Pete.
