RE: Firewalls

A `Firewall` is a piece of software (or hardware) which sits inbetween your pc and the internet. Its protects your pc from people/software from getting information, messing up your pc etc.

It does not replace virus software, but site along side protecting your pc.
Personally I use zonealarm (www.zonealarm.com) and found it v.good (plus its free for non companies). If you have adsl/isbn etc the pro version would be a must (but it costs cash)

I`ve used them before a few times, they are fine.
As for the padlock if I remember correctly they use a frameset, and only the middle frame is secure. Hence the padlock doesn`t appear if you use IE5

It allows you to compare prices from about 12 different online shops like
amazon, whsmiths etc. (It also show postage prices)

Blackstar.co.uk are currently doing some titles for £3.99 at the moment
Don`t know any of them myself but someone may like them

RE: Wharfedale 750S Firmware upgrades???

When the 750 had a problem, wharfedale would not make a firmware upgrade, so tesco developed one instead. If there is a problem maybe approaching tesco`s would be a better bet.

I tried it on mine. It sort of worked, the picture is fine most of the time, but every so often it looks like it needs tracking . but only for a couple of seconds then it goes back to normal

RE: Buffy Season 2

The first set of Wharfedales had a problem (ie if you purchased one about 2 years ago). It has a problem with Buffy season one (with the menus) and discs 2 & 3 of season two.

You will need to phone tesco`s (and have your reciept). They may tell you that such an upgrade does not exist. It does as i had my upgraded (and now as well as playing r1 and r4 discs it plays some RCE disks (i tested one on my player)

The firmware rom needs replaceing with a new one. It takes an engineer a few minutes to do.

What player have you got? For Instance the Wharfedale 750 will not play 2 and 3 aless the player has had the firmware upgrade. If this is the case search the forum for the wharfedale upgrade

basically NTSC is the screen format. Here in the UK we have PAL, in the states you have NTSC (which if I remember correctly has less lines per screen than PAL)

You may have problems playing a NTSC format disc on older TV`s. Most new ones can cope with NTSC

If you can play R4 disks try www.esydvd.com.au . they have a few disney discs cheap in there sale (I played £17 for 2 disney films includeing postage)

I have the 750 my R4`s from ezydvd worked fine on the orgional firmware, and fine now I`ve had it upgraded.
