No, it wasn`t sold Multi Region out of the box. I bought it having seen on various sites that it was hackable. I have had it for 6 months now and the hack used to work fine - I`d type in repeat 3 8 7 6 7 and then 9 for region free and it worked beautifully, even played RCE`s with no problems at all. It was only when I bought American Pie 2 that the problems started. I hooked my player up to a TV that did not support NTSC (although I did not know this at the time) and found that the disc would not play on R0, so I changed it to R1 using the R1 hack. That obviously didn`t work so I set it to R2 and watched another film. When I connected the player back up to my normal TV and applied the hack to get US discs playing too, it never worked. I`m trying day and night and nothing is happening, it`s driving me insane!!!

I have tried a cold reset but the language screen never comes up. Furthermore, when i type REPEAT 3 8 7 6 7 no region number appears.

I own a Samsung M105 and have been buying R1 and R2 DVD`s for two years now. Since I got the player in Summer 2001, it has given me no problems. Until now. The player seems to be stuck on the region 2 setting and no hack can make it go back to either region free or R1. Does the player have a limit on how many times you can alter the region setting or is there more to it? Any help is very much appreciated.

Whooah! Jesus guys, don`t take me so seriously! I think it`s safe to say that more or less every person sees a porno once in their lives and I am no stranger! I just got the impression that the guy who started the thread was a bit of a w***er, the way he wrote it. I just think of this as a place to talk about `proper` movies. Chill the EDITED out dudes, I certainly ain`t no EDITED priest as I hate all forms of religion!

Hi. Firstly thanks to all who have responded. Although I am a DVD nut (in terms of knowing about the discs themselves), I am not too familiar with hardware. I have a brand new Samsung M105 and I think it has a DTS decoder, although I`m not totally sure.

Night of the Living Dead 30th for £5.99

I have just seen this version for £5.99 in Music Zone Trade Direct at Wigan. Although it`s the 30th anniversary with the most godawful new music score and additional scenes, it`s still woth it - excellent picture and a few extras! They also have a few Halloween sequels (3, 4 and 5) and loads of other horror stuff (Basket Case 1 & 2)

Help needed - Surround Sound System

I am desperate to get a surround sound system so that I`ll be able to listen to DVD`s in beautiful Dolby 5.1 audio. However, I don`t really know where to start. I don`t want to spend much (ideally £100-£150) so would I be better off buying second hand or what? All help is appreciated!

I understand that the UK 15 cert is cut by about 2 minutes. Can anyone tell me if the R1DVD is worth getting? I know that there are no extras but what about the sound, picture and uncut footage?

RE: Day of the Dead - Widescreen

Hi, you probably won`t get this as the thread is over a week old but I`ll tell you anyway. All of George`s dead trilogy (Including the Tom Savini -directed NOTLD remake) were filmed in 4:3 for some bizarre reason. I can understand why they would do it with NOTLD as it was such low budget but Dawn and Day? No excuse. There are, however, rumours that Dawn was shot in widescreen and although there are a lot of US versions in `Widescreen`, all are cropped. In some versions even the credits are cut off in places.
I also own Day in 4:3 and widescreen and it is obvious that the picture has been tampered with.

I am about to buy this player as it can be hacked to play region 1 dvd`s. I have one major question though - does it play RCE discs? Many thanks!

Hi and thanks for your replies. I want a genuine Region 1 player so that I can buy discs from the USA and play them with no problems. I am willing to spend up to £120, the reason I am interested in the Panasonic is because it is only £50.
Can you direct me to some good retailers of R1 players?

I am considering buying this region one player as it is very cheap. However, the seller says that the only catch is that the laser needs re-aligning. Will this be costly considering that it is region 1 and what are the chances of me just buying a duff player? Thanx!

DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT WAIT UNTIL OCTOBER! This is the most unbelievable disc ever made, the menus are outstanding and the content is the same. Three movie versions and absolutely TONS more extras make this a buy you will never regret!
