Page 1 of SAMSUNG M-105: Does the region hack have a limit? URGENT!!!

I own a Samsung M105 and have been buying R1 and R2 DVD`s for two years now. Since I got the player in Summer 2001, it has given me no problems. Until now. The player seems to be stuck on the region 2 setting and no hack can make it go back to either region free or R1. Does the player have a limit on how many times you can alter the region setting or is there more to it? Any help is very much appreciated.

No, there`s no limit on the number of times you can hack the player.

Try a cold reset (which means holding down PLAY and STOP on the front panel until the language screen appears, then selecting 1 for English), and hacking again from scratch.

If that doesn`t work, let me know what point you get stuck at, e.g. does the region number not appear when you type REPEAT 3 8 7 6 7?

I have tried a cold reset but the language screen never comes up. Furthermore, when i type REPEAT 3 8 7 6 7 no region number appears.

Just to clarify matters, was this a player that was sold to you as a multi-region player (i.e. it was multi-region out of the box), or were you able to perform the hack originally? If the latter, which hack did you use?

No, it wasn`t sold Multi Region out of the box. I bought it having seen on various sites that it was hackable. I have had it for 6 months now and the hack used to work fine - I`d type in repeat 3 8 7 6 7 and then 9 for region free and it worked beautifully, even played RCE`s with no problems at all. It was only when I bought American Pie 2 that the problems started. I hooked my player up to a TV that did not support NTSC (although I did not know this at the time) and found that the disc would not play on R0, so I changed it to R1 using the R1 hack. That obviously didn`t work so I set it to R2 and watched another film. When I connected the player back up to my normal TV and applied the hack to get US discs playing too, it never worked. I`m trying day and night and nothing is happening, it`s driving me insane!!!

Quick Overview
The hack listed below is non-destructive, and will not invalidate your players warranty. To perform the correct sequence of steps you will only need access to your players front panel and its remote control. Always make sure that the drive tray is empty before following the procedure listed below.
How to convert your Samsung DVD-M105 player into a multi-region compatible machine
To convert this player to Multi-Region playback
1. Press the Repeat button on your remote control
NB: Do not confuse this with the Repeat A-B button
2. Press the buttons 5, 7, 5, 3 and 8 on your remote control, in order one at a time
3. The numbers 02 will be displayed on the top left of your onscreen display
4. Press the 1 button on your remote control for region 1, 2 for region 2, and so on, or 9 for multi-region playback
NB: The above step may be time sensitive and need to be performed quickly
5. Press the Open button on your remote control

6. After 15 seconds have elapsed, power off your player and then power on your player
