RE: Skoda?

Never driven one but local taxi firm use them and they are very comfortable as a passenger. Also, the cops here in Belfast use them so they must be AOK. Just for the record, I owned an Estelle back in the days of the skoda jokes. Great car to drive and beaten only for comfortable seats by my uncles Mercedes. With a bit more power in the engine it would have been a great one

RE: No audio between dvd player and recorder

It was a home burned disc, not a commercially pressed one. It was a home video I was trying to copy. I did subsequently try a commercial disc and same problem

No audio between dvd player and recorder

Had to finally replace my old Liteon recorder and bought an LG DRT389h. Connected it in the same way as my old recorder but when I play a dvd from my LG combi through either scart socket on the recorder I get no sound, just picture. Thought maybe it was a loose scart but if I play back an old VHS I get picture and sound. Everything else works fine. Any ideas??

Logik LD3330 remote code

Just bought a Logik ld3330 in a closing down sale for £9 but it was a display model and came without remote or manual. Does anyone know the code needed for a universal remote to operate it
Thanks

RE: Liteon DD-A110

Anyone know if there are any firmware updates like those for the 5005

RE: lite on lvw5005 macrovision hack

I also found no problem with this upgrade but didn`t notice my serial number changed, must check that tonight. The only thing I noticed was that I had to retune my channels and this time it found BBC on its own but still had to manually search for Ch4. Seems like a waste of a CD for nothing

RE: lite on lvw5005 macrovision hack

Just downloaded the firmware update from Lite-on today 23Nov. LNFBE076.DSU.0102.024x which unzips to give me LNFBE076.DSU. The problem is that the instructions at Lite-on say to burn the D00 file, no mention of a DSU extension. Should I rename it or go with the original file extension. Generally on this machine cant complain apart from small window for tuning channels

RE: Who else is glad the Irish have lost?

Sorry mates. Check the records. Ireland did NOT lose. Threw away a penalty shootout certainly but the record books will show that Ireland did not lose a single game. Why are some of you so p***ed off about the Irish. We had a ball, loved every minute of the roller coaster ride and are thoroughly looking forward to the Russians in September. If you had been enjoying your own team as much as we enjoyed ours, you wouldn`t have the time to slag off someone else`s. BTW, did you not look at Seamans face at the end of the game you LOST. In his face I saw the same heartbreak that was on every Irish face and really felt for him. He made some fine saves throughout the competition to keep England in it. A good keeper who unfortunately made one mistake just like poor old Harte did although got to admit he made a few more than just one. Anyone who cant enjoy every team and give credit where it is due really should find another game to follow. You`ll never beat the Irish (our motto)

RE: RGB and Sanyo

Thanks Clayts, I was afraid that was going to be the answer. Will have to stick to current setup. Pity is I have to connect my cable box into the RGB socket and set to composite. Thanks again

RGB and Sanyo

Recently purchased a Sanyo CE28wp4-B to replace my older Sharp 28". Seemed like a good buy until I tried to watch a DVD. The picture was dull, lifeless or grey as my wife described it. All I could adjust was the brightness but changing the setting on contrast and colour made no difference at all. The set has an `eco` mode which is everything turned down and this seems to be what it is set on for RGB. If I connect to the second scart, turn RGB off on the player and set the tv scart to s-video, I get a good picture. Strange thing is that with the player set this way, it is supposed to be outputting composite but if the tv is set to composite, the picture is woefull. Is this a known problem with Sanyo or is there an engineers menu where I can change the RGB settings. The player by the way is a Wharfedale 750s that produced great RGB on my old Sharp

RE: Asda pacific DVD Player & Surround System £190

Toysrus selling a Venturer system for same price. Saw one in Belfast store last night but shop was closing so didn`t have time to check out details

RE: printer for under £25

As far as I am aware, these printers are produced by HP and are based on their older models like the Deskjet690C. The German computer manufacturer Medion Cybermaxx have the exclusive distribution rights in Europe hence you will find them in Toysrus as they sell the Medion computer. Not a bad computer either. My nephew bought one last Christmas and almost never switches it off and has never had a minutes problem. Back to the printer, why worry about the price of cartridges. At that price just replace the printer

RE: 100 Greatest Films - Channel 4 - Saturday - what`s your 1-2-3 ?

The Wizard Of Oz
Its A Wonderful Life
Gone With The Wind
All at number one. These movies are even more ancient than me, but they are still very popular and remembered by all. The vast majority of us weren`t even born when these movies were made but how many can say they have not seen them and enjoyed them. That is the mark of a truly great flick. How many of todays movies will be remembered in 62 years time (Oz was made in 1939 I think)

RE: a sm electronics dvd hack

Make sure there is no disc in the drive and the tray is closed. On the remote press SETUP then on the front panelpress
NEXT
STOP
PAUSE/STEP
PREV
NEXT
You should then get a loophole menu and can set the region code.
Hope this helps. Is the machine any good. I saw them in LIDL last night but didn`t want to buy one until I had found a hack. Got the hack, went back to the shop and they were all sold out. Will have to find another budget model for the kids room.
Please come back with confirmation if this works

making dvd rom region free

Does anyone know of a web site that specialises in hacking dvd-roms. This site is great for the home dvd but somewhat light on the PC DVD. This is a new problem for me as I never had a dvd in my PC before so never had any call to pay attention to previous postings on this and other forums

hack for dvd-rom

Anyone got a hack for an Ultima Electronics DVD drive model no DHI-g40 as fitted to a Medion Cybermaxx PC. Software being used is PowerDVD

RE: Macro Free Video Recorders

Aiwa fx4000 is macro free. Dont know the proper terminology or how it works but I can record from my Wharfedale 750s with no problem. If I try recording to my older Toshiba VCR I get the macrovision effect so it is not the DVD that is doing it

RE: Widescreen choice advice

Cant say what to buy but would advise avoiding Sharp. Had a 28" Sharp for two years with SRS(simulated surround sound). Great sound, great picture but been in for repair 3 times in 18months. Have a 5 year old standard mono Samsung, poor sound, good picture never broken down once. I know its not a widescreen but the brand has proved to be reliable whereas Sharp has not. Son has a Mitsubishi and thinks it is the dogs dangly bits. Hope this helps

RE: Are region 2 discs getting better?

I got a tv, a dvd and like to watch a movie. Never was much into extras, never had any expensive equipment so really dont see much difference on recent releases.I didn`t mind waiting a few extra weeks for my all time favourite "the Magnificent Seven" and paid £3 less than for the R1 version. The extras would have to be something really special or the difference in release date really long before I would bother with another region. What I would love to see, (being an old timer who remembers the day of the `B` movie in the cinemas) included rather than extras would be old back catologue movies from the old b/w days. Then I would say that R2 has really improved. I can but dream

RE: Wharfedale 750S playing MP3 discs

MP3s play fine on my machine but every once in a while there is one that wont play. If I try the track in Musicmatch Jukebox on the PC it plays fine but try it in Microsoft Media Player and although it plays I can hear problems with it. A lot depends on how the track was ripped in the first place. I have downloaded some real stinkers

The Patriot

I wonder why the bother of putting RCE on this disc. The VCD copy of this movie has been around for about two months. It is an excellent copy but has oriental subtitles that cant be got rid of. My son bought one for £5 and offered me the loan of it. I refused saying I would rather wait for the legit DVD so that I could really enjoy it plus I dont want to be putting money into the hands of pirates. However if as it seems it wont play on my Wharfie, I will be borrowing my sons copy. It may be only a spit in the ocean but they have lost the revenue they would have got had I bought this DVD. All RCE is going to do is encourage the pirates to find a way round it and the studios will have lost the money that they would have received from people like me who cant play the legit discs on their machines. Personally, I would rather have the DVD but if I am forced to buy pirated VCDs then so be it

RE: please help macrovision doing my head in

What model of Aiwa do you have. The Aiwa fx4500 is not troubled by macrovision so I can record from my Wharfedale to it although I have not had any reason to record a full movie. I tried it just to see if it was possible, recorded for 30 minutes and it was spot on. I found the sound to be a bit harsh but I get that when recording from VCR to VCR also when connected via AV leads. Sound is perfect when recorded via scart. Problem is Wharfedale only has one scart so short of getting round the back of the TV and connecting through the vcr scart to the tv I will live with the not so perfect sound

RE: macrovision

try setting it to 2. Worked on my sons

RE: BUSH DVD2002 macro code

I set it to 2 and it worked fine when feeding the signal through a Panasonic vcr. However, when switched off it went back to the factory setting of 1. It also worked on an Aiwa vcr but it was macrovision immune. Try setting to 2 and if that doesn`t work just keep trying. It will always go back to factory settings when switched off. The region code change I used was 13 and it doesn`t change when switched off

RE: scan 2000/ bush dvd2002/wharfdale which is the better

The Bush 2002 has a macrovision disable. My son has one and it most definitely has macrovision disable on page 2 of the hidden menu. See the hack page on this site for the Bush 2002 or Ariston. Set the multiregion to 13 and macrovision to 2. The multiregion is set permanently until you reset it but the macrovision defaults to 1 each time you switch off

RE: Wharfdale 750 Macrovision disablement

Techtronics will chip a Wharfedale but it does not remove macrovision. If you can lay your hands on an Aiwa FX4500 vcr problem goes away as this vcr is macrovision immune (mine is and I read of another on uk.media.dvd newsgroup). Problem is that this vcr may no longer be available cause I havnt seen one since I bought mine at Christmas 98

RE: Wharfedale hacks

I bought a Wharfedale at the weekend and the hack worked perfectly. I can even route it through my vcr without any sign of macrovision but I have been told that its only because my vcr(aiwa fx4500) is not affected by it. Whatever the reason, I have had no problems hacking it

RE: A mag said the Wharfedale hack doesn`t work any more!

DVD Review was the offending mag as far as I can remember. But dont be too hard on them. I have read various mags about various machines and the difference is appalling. One mag says there is a hack the next one says there isnt, same with RGB and macrovision and how good or bad the machine is. The variance of reviews in the mags suggests to me that anyone wanting to buy a machine should get their info from other owners via forums like this one

RE: Bush DVD 2002

Had no problems with my sons 2002. Plays everything we have tried. Wasn`t aware that it had a zoom feature though

RE: Any Multi Region Hacks For Bush DVD 2009?

Havn`t come across the 2009 but my son has a 2002 which uses the ariston hack and can be set region free and vcr friendly. I was thinking of buying the bush 2005 at £199 from GUS mailorder but can find no details about it or if the 2002 hack works on it. Can anyone help
