JVC S-VHS ET VCR For Under £150 Delivered!

I see Unbeatable are selling a JVC HRS5955 S-VHS ET VCR for £138.99 which including delivery of £7.99 is £146.98.

I think this is a very good price considering my standard JVC VCR was over £150!

Hello,

This is a great machine. i was lucky and picked one up in Dixons as an `end of line, last few left` Bargain for £119.
`Backing Up` DVDs to S-VHS is better that VCD, by a long way !

Cheers,

Neil.

Do you mean SVHS ET on VHS tapes or are you using SVHS tapes??

SVHS tapes are still about £5 each??

Hello,

Yes, I use S-VHS tapes when backing up. £5 per tape is a slight exaggeration. £3 is closer (for JVC tapes), but the quality is far superior than normal VHS and VCD. Nearly two times the horizotal lines of normal VHS.

I suppose it`s all down to personal preference though.

Neil.

Hi there,

I have just bought the new version, the 7860 S-VHS ET, I find 1 it doesn`t control a Sky Grundig Digibox, 2 The Led display looks cloudy from a distance as it is quite away behing the perspex frontage/facia. Any help there Guys/girls?

And Mild` where are you getting SVHS for £3?? are these 180 or 240??

Sorry for all the Q`s!

Matt

Hello Ice.

1) Did it come with a special infra-red thingy for controlling digiboxes ? (mine did but don`t use it) You can have mine if you don`t have one.

2) You are right about the fascia, it look out of focus all the time. It doesn`t bother me much though, it records and plays great !

3) I got 3 240 JVC`s from Comet for a tenner (ok £3.3333 rec.), twas a World Cup Special, but they were still there yesterday.

Try copying (backing up) the non macro-vision Harry Potter DVD, what a great picture !

Hope this helps,

Neil.

Cheers, MildMan!

Thanks for the advice, Glad (in a sort of way) that your display looks blurred, I thought that mine was a dud!!

Have used that little IR mouse every where, but think that the code that they have supplied is not 64 or 65, not a big problem. Thanks though for the offer!

Even with normal Tesco VHS tapes the recording ability has a superb playback picture I have never seen on Tape, thats even at LP speed. I would imagine that S-VHS and SP will have a quality unrivalled except by DV!

I know vhs is almost about to take retirement, but with this quality may it last a little longer!!!

Cheers Matt

I bought a JVC S-VHS HR-S7722 it cost 200 quid 13 months ago, bloody good machine but your`e right about the IR control for the satellite it doesn`t work on mine either, come to think of it has anyone ever seen one working at all? Maybe JVC are just taking the Mickey by telling us that although they work with most machines they may not work with all ! Jesus. They probably don`t work any, it`s probably a blank socket only there for show !! BA*!$&DS !! We (the JVC owners club) would appreciate a reply from any JVC technoheads out there, thanks. By the way it was a steal at 200 quid, I got it knocked down from 400 quid at Scottish Power. So much for Currys price promise they couldn`t, wouldn`t match it.
