As opposed to Alan Smith on Sky Sports...
We are poles apart, I think Alan (The White Thierry Henry :D ) Smith is great!! :)

LMFAO. Since when were either of those teams in the PREMIERSHIP? BBC aren`t bidding for lower division football - Sky can keep them for all I care!
Oh, are they not ??? s***, I feel stupid now. You missed my point.
...the way I see it, you have three choices..
1) Pay for Sky Sports and get good coverage of ALL football and take advantage of their pay per view service.
2) Pay for it from the BBC and only get premiership (It is not going to be free and you`ll have to listen to Graham le bloody Saux!)
3) Wait for the BBC to invest in pay-per-view then pick the bits you want and you won`t have to watch Sc***horpe the games...unless they make it to the premiership!! ;)

Those services have always been provided by Local Government.
Provided by, yes, but I said funding. Funding has changed for these services significantly, I`m sure Central Gov. used to supply the funds to Local Gov.

Education Services
Community Care

Highways and Transportation
Yes, which used to be funded from Central Government. So now, we see tax increases from central Government and council tax increases because we need to fund the locally provided services! Sounds fair. :/
My local services have not improved, in fact I now get charged to re-cycle and fined if I put wrong type of refuse in the wrong type of bin. I feel I get great value for my 20% rise.

but lets face it, half of you aren`t watching BBC1 on a Sunday afternoon anyway)
What about Monday and Saturday ? and full re-runs of everygame from 10pm on a Saturday night? Will we really see the commitment that Sky put into it?
Quote:
And plus Sky Sports coverage is s***e
You`re kidding? I think their coverage is way better than the BBC.
Remember also that Sky commit hours and hours to live lower division football, they are not just in it for the premiership and the easy money...will the BBC have the balls to show Sc***horpe -v- Mansfield on a Friday night? I doubt it.
I think the premiership needs a dedicated sports channel that can give it the coverage the fans need, not what would be a half arsed compromise, which is all the BBC/ITV etc... could provide (Unless they come up with a dedicated channel too).

RE: Best software to transfer DVDs to PSP using the full PSP screen
Hello,
Using Video9, how many minutes can you fit on memory sticks (256mb/512mb/1gb) ?
Can you choose the quality, so that it fits on a smaller stick ?
Hope someone can help,
Neil.

We didn`t miss Beckham
I thought we missed Beckham`s passing, but King did a great job in front of the back four.
Wright-Phillips was ok, but I didn`t think he got enough good quality balls in.

RE: Money-Grabbing supermarkets (xmas too early thread)
Tesco would argue that this is a reponse to `demand` from the customer; personally, I think Tesco and alike actually `create` the demand themselves, making it not really a true supply and demand scenario.

RE: where can I download active sync?
Isn`t activesync an MS application; I think you`ll find it`s a free download on their site.

RE: Another significant minimum wage increase
Quote:
but if that person is lazy & won`t do the job properly how long do you think the company will employ him/her ?
as long as they want...you try sacking someone because they are lazy...the days are well gone when you can get rid of someone becuase they are a waste of space. They have rights you know!!!
The Employer get stuffed again.
Neil.
RE: Another significant minimum wage increase
Quote:
Some might also take offence at your presumption that those on minimum wages are lazy workers.
Some might say that the minimum wage enccourages the lazy people(along the lines of what R Terlwilliger is saying).
Employers have to bear the cost for this increase and for the extra employer NI contribution too(so Brown wins too)..small employers are now under immense pressure and some will fold, some will lay off people, others will make some jobs part time...the minimum wage idea is not all good news.
I think it`s part of the Labour way of buying votes..another `benefit` for the non-working/don`t-want-to work class to keep them sweet at election time.

Oh, then what if I edit my post and add a new line to complete a full copy of your first post?...along the lines of...Let`s burn him/stone him/rip, chop, slice him/birch him/hang him/set him free/do animal tests on him etc... (not you Adam, I meant Huntley! :) )
Adam, this isn`t a pop at you, it`s just an attempt at humour.

RE: Newport, Newport - So good they named it twice...
Hello,
I grew up in Newport, there are some nice areas, some not so nice...Bettws is one of the not so nice. I`m sure the School is not all bad though!
Best of luck if you decide to do it.

RE: MOBO Award !
Quote:
music that was created and developed out of the need to show solidarity
Did you mean to use a different word than solidarity?. The need to show solidarity would suggest that music of this origin is somehow downtrodden or discriminated against, which it patently isn`t as it dominates the charts, radio and TV music channels. (rightly so, if it sells).
Maybe the MOBOs exist for no other reason than ego, the same reasons the Brits and Mercury etc... exist.
Neil.

Was thinking that too, why aren`t rock bands nominted? Rock and pop pretty much is all spawned from black people originally did it not?
That`s a fair point, I wonder if Reggae artists feature in these awards ? Aswad would have cleaned up in the 80`s :D
I personally don`t think MOBO its racist, but MOWO would be perceived that way.......like the the National Black Police Association UK is ok, a white version wouldn`t be seen as ok.
On the issue of integration; if integration isn`t going as well as people want it to be going, I can`t see how `forced` integration is going to help...the Islam road-shows that are planned will end up being meeting places for the BNP!

Home recording software
Hello,
Can anyone recommend some home mixing MP3 Software. It`s not for DJing but for recording full songs made up of guitar track, bass track, drum, keyboards all separately.
I`m happy to pay for it, but I`m really not sure what is the best...`best` in this case though would be a combination of price, ease of use and how it works on a home pc.
Home someone can help.

RE: MOBO Award !
Is their a MOWO award ?

RE: Keeping cricket free-to-air !!
There are hundreds of free-to-air sports which the BBC, C4 & ITV do not bother to show by SKY and Eurosport do(e.g.US Open Tennis); I think we have a nerve in shouting about Cricket. The BBC were had it for years and got complacent, the coverage didn`t move on, it was boring, people didn`t watch and therefore made no effort to get it back....now it`s popular again (for reasons of better coverage, we are winning and better Cricket) we all want it back on the beeb.
...bear in mind also that SKY invest in 20/20, league and other international tests too, not just the high profile money making series` for them.
Before Cricket gets back to terrestrial , there are a few other minority sports up the pecking order which, in fairness, should get back to normal telly before Cricket (RFU, RL)
I love Cricket and this series was great, but if the BBC can punish us with 5 hours of horse eventing over a weekend, they don`t deserve the ashes. :D

You need to do your sums again. An annual rise of around 6.3% would take 40p in 1990 to £1 today. Admittedly 6.3 is about double the average rate of inflation since 1990.
You`ve just proved his point in a roundabout way; 6.3% is way more than double and if you consider that average salary increases over the last 10 years have been 2.5%...

RE: N Ireland v England............
Quote:
but did anyone else blame both the last results on Beckham?
He was the only mid-fielder who could hold and use possesion! Lampard, the press` fave (and good player normally) was invisible tonight, but no criticism...why??
Wright-Phillips, (good a club level) was hopeless tonight...but forget that, let`s pick on Beckham and Sven.
Personally, I blame the press for their relentless, unjustified attacks on Sven and Beckham. This was their first loss in over 25 qualifying matches, an amazing record by any standards. Even if you don`t want him to stay, there are no credible english successors anyway.
Beckham works hard in every match, in every other country he`s respected as a player, but not in the UK...we`re determined to see him dropped.

RE: Holiday Romances
Quote:
bummer
Not really appropriate in this thread :D (admittedly redeemed thread)
On the subject of holiday romances, we played a, what seemed like hilarious at the time, trick on my friend who met a girl from Hull (we`re from South Wales) whilst holidaying in Magalluf (classy holiday)...as what normally happens, they swapped addresses etc...at the end of the holiday. By pure coinicidence, one of the lads was off to Hull with work a month or so after we got back...we wrote a letter about how `she` found she was pregnant and that it`s important the baby gets to know his dad, and that how she`ll be in touch in a few weeks and she`d like to come down and meet his parents. It seemed convincing because of the Hull postmark. We had tears from him, tortured nights out asking for our advice, he even told his parents before we owned up.
(It maybe a "you had to be there" type of situation, but it gave us hours of fun at the time)

RE: George Bush doesn`t care about Black people!
I agree with your statement, although it`s not `cool` to hold opnions like that, it`s like there has to be a `reason`, or someone else`s fault (Bush and racism in these example)
Quote:
No reports of wide or large scale looting, raping, pillaging or murder, just everyone trying to help each other out.
I think the quote mentioned above is actually incorrect. In some areas, there was looting, hi-jacking of the aid convoys, child kidnapping and other awful things that we are now seeing in New Orleans.
As for the looting, raping etc...in New Orleans, it shouldn`t be turned into a race or Bush issue, they`re are excuses and can only lead to some kind of justification; these people are just abhorrent scumbags who don`t deserve to share the same planet as the honourable, law abiding folk who are suffering and need help.

RE: Owen going to Newcastle :-(((((((
I wonder if Adidas had a say in this transfer; Owen is an Adidas sponsored player, Newcastle kit is Adidas...along the same lines as Beckham going to Real...

I realised why bush wouldn`t sign up to kyoto when i saw what came out of the shuttle too
...or because Bush knew that the US were going to end up being shafted by China and India (like the UK has) who wouldn`t sign up to Kyoto either but, no-one seems to mention those two energy guzzling, environment wrecking, superpowers!
