Page 1 of The new Alba 108 DVD Player at ARGOS (£69.99) is Multi-Region !!!!!!

Just to let everyone know my Dad has today bought the Alba 108 from Argos for a penny short of £70 (yes I know it`s Alba and the specs not great but it looks very nice and it`s as cheap as chips !!).
To check out whether it is multi-region like the previous Alba model sold from the old Argos Catalogue I have lent him Rock Star (Region 1 RCE) and Time Machine 2002 (Region 1) .
He has just rang me to say they both play perfectly !!!!
Is this the cheapest multi region ever ?????!!!!!!

what hack did u use??

Does it play vcd`s also ?

BigA, there is no hack, you just put your Region 1 disc into the machine and it plays without any fiddling about with the remote etc. !!

a few questions ,is it macro disabled & does it play cdr/svcd etc

I was just looking at the back of the New Argos catalogue and I saw that that the front of the player itself says

DVD/SVCD/CD/MP3/CDRW

Is that right....Can someone confirm the full FORMATS that it is capable of playing PLEASE to put everyone out of their misery...

I have recently bought one of these from Argos.

On the front of mine it says
DVD/CD/MP3/CDRW. The SVCD is missing!!!

It will play MP3`s recorded on a CDRW disk, but will not play VCD`s. I have been unable to test multi-region as I only have region 2`s

It plays region 4 DVDs happily, no joy with a VCD on CDRW.

Sorry for the delay in responding, just to confirm this player does not play vcds/svcds (I have tried several), all the Region 1, 2 and 4 discs I have put in the machine up to now have played perfectly ..
