Page 1 of 4 port USB Hub - £4.69
Bargain Buckets Forum
This seems a great price to me but then I haven`t been keeping up to date with PC hardware prices recently. ebuyer.com are selling the above for £4.69 - with alot of people in these forums using (usb)broadband and picking up a Kodak camera it could come in handy. I know it will be a god send for me! :-)
Now the catch...bloody delivery is £5.99!!! If your already buying something from them then it`s not too bad. Even with the delivery on it`s still the cheapest one I found.
I have been told that a switch is the only way to go. Dabs have a 5 port one for £28-00 inc delivery. This is 10/100. if you don`t get this type the slowest computer on the system will make all the other the same slow speed. It may be that this offer will end up in the bin. Good post though, as a week ago I would have bought it. Now I konw better (I Hope).
Paull: You will have a bit of a problem if you try and plug your Kodak camera into it though.

I`ve got a few little tips about usb hubs, having gone through 3 until i found one I liked. If you get an external one, make sure it has a power supply, otherwise you`ll get no end of problems with devices not having enough power coming through the port. My fave usb hub is a 4 port one that sits in either a 3 1/2 or 5 1/4 inch drive bay. It connects up to the internal psu, a cable runs through and out the back of your pc into a spare usb port, and it works like a charm. Plus there`s no extra clutter on my desk. I think it was about £15 including delivery from ebuyer (excellent service btw).

Paull: Are you getting a little confused between an Ethernet Hub and a USB hub?
USB Hubs allow you to hook up more than the standard 2 USB devices (Mice, Joysticks, scanners, etc) to your PC.
Network hubs allow you to, well, er, network. :)
Oh, and anyone that has a LAN in their house and is still running 10MB/s, SHAME ON YOU!! ;-)
Bill, was that front panel jobby this one? http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?product_uid=34835
Richard - yes that`s the one. Would have posted a link myself, but it`s pretty easy to find isn`t it? Well done though. It`s quite cheap, even after delivery (compare to the one`s that Scan have - about £10 more expensive).

I assumed it was, but the picture wasn`t good enough to be able to see what the cables were coming out of the back. Ta.
Sorry about the reply I gave, dashed in at dinner time & I just caught the jist, should have read it. SORRY. It`s just I`ve been up to my eyballs looking at & buying a Router & hub this last couple of weeks, I stupidly assumed it was an ADSL hub & was trying to stop people buying the wrong thing. Again sorry.

It arrived this morning, ordered it sunday evening. Excellent service.
I now have my Palm, Mouse, Yamaha CD-RW and Kodak camera plugged into it. Looking good so far, haven`t tried burning a CD yet though!
