Offers at Britannia- some pretty good stuff

Okay, I know loads of you have a downer on Britannia, but if anyone out there is a member & is interested, or you want to buy something cheap to end your commitment, they have some good DVD special offers at the moment like Harry Potter & A.I. for £7.99.

Some of the other titles available include-
Cats & Dogs, The Deerhunter, Dog Day Afternoon, Enter The Dragon, Heartbreakers, Ocean`s 11 (Original), Osmosis Jones, & The Third Man.

There are ten pages of discs in this offer (Not sure if a link will work, but here it is)

I think that the Harry Potter price is a mistake, as I've never seen it this cheap anywhere before. They sent me a confirmation email where I ordered it, so I reckon they will honour it.

They also have 24 pages of special offer cd's at 3 for £15- there is a LOT of crap there, but there are also some great stocking fillers. There are a lot of Motown discs. I ordered 4 cd`s, so it looks like you don't need to buy them in three's to get them for a fiver each.

I don't remember how many items you need to buy to get a free recording with the standard membership, but if you have been upgraded to a clubselect membership, you get a free recording voucher for every 6 things you buy. So, by buying a few cheap cd`s as gifts, I've got myself a free DVD voucher.
& Yes, I know that some the DVD's I have mentioned can be bought for a bit less elsewhere, but if you only need to buy say 2 more items to end your commitment, or to get a free recording voucher, it might be worth buying there.

You can get all these at play.com for similar prices without any of the hassles.
I am warning you, NEVER GO ANYWHERE NEAR BRITANNIA

you will thank me for it believe me.

I agree, Britannia are worthless. However, I think the point of the original thread was aimed more at people who have already joined (bad luck guys) and want to salvage some reasonably good value out of the situation, in which case good luck to them.

DO NOT JOIN BRITANNIA, THEY SUCK. If you have already joined, these offers might help you buy your way out. A good post, then.

Interestingly, after I severed the chains, they came crawling back to me several times with offers of "select" membership - which I eventually took up just to get them off my back. Now there is no obligation to buy, and none of those ridiculous "recommendations" that automatically get sent to you. Everything`s at their bonus price, too. However, they are STILL overpriced compared to even the expensive sites on the Net!

So, stay WELL AWAY from this company. Even if they genuinely tried, they couldn`t compete with most high street stores, let alone net retailers.

The Harry Potter disc on offer is the 4:3 version not the widescreen.

Yea, but don`t Brittania only class the FULL PRICE DVD`s as part of your commitment?
I mean, if you buy say 10 at the so called bonus price or ANY special offers, you still havn`t purchased any at the regular price so in effect still have to buy (at the last look) 6 full price DVD`s over 2 years.

Or do what I did and spend an afternoon searching through their CD collection and ordering 6 CDs for silly money :-)

Similar to pistol I was offered select membership. I just generally ignore the infrequent mailings but I was looking for a specific disc and the Xmas select catalogue had just arrived. They had the disc cheaper including p&p than any other online retailer.

Perhaps a rare ocurrence but it does happen !
