LG 42" Plasma £1,999 at Richersounds!
This is in the new What hifi? mag advert. It`s the one that they have been selling for £2,499, but they have had a new, better LG that now sells at that price, so they have reduced the price of the original one! Personally speaking I think the battle between LCD and Plasma is going to drive prices down big time over the next 12-18 months. Roger.

when you say LCD do you mean LCD Projectors? I thijk this is an excellent deal considering a top end Sony 36" cost around £1800 ish.

Problem with the LCD bigger screens is they fade from the side angle, from what I`ve seen.

There are pros and cons in both formats. LCD dont reach the gargantuan sizes of plasma screens and there is no doubt that their quality doesn`t match either. But then again, LCD screens are more or less immune to the very real screen burn problems from those idiotic Sky logos! To be honest, I can see the time when Sky may face multiple claims for the damage that occurs to plasmas by them, particularly when/if they become the viewing method of choice by the man in the street.

I cant understand why those LCD screens are so expensive.
What is the expected life of a plasma screen and/or are there any known problems with them?
RE: LG 42" Plasma £1,999 at Richersounds!
Ahhhh LCDs on their own may not scale as well as plasmas, BUT they have worked out how to stick together multiple smaller screens to make a single big screen (think video wall), but so that you cant see the join. I think that that is what will take over on the large screens in the near future.

They are selling all the old display models from each shop
so you have to call in to buy them, my local store has sold theirs
Dunno bowt the rest, but I guess most will be gone because people in the shop would have probably snapped them up as soon as they dropped in price
I done that once, walked into Currys at 7.55 the night before a sale and bought a TV at the sale price :) perfect timing
good luck finding one

I think the life of Plasma screens is about 10,000 hours.
I would never buy a display model, because it may well have done a few thousand hours already!

Bearing in mind our current TV is probably on for 12 hours or more a day (Kids programmes in the morning, wifes programmes during the day, and my DVD`s during the evening), I reckon you would only get about 2 years worth of use out of it ?
When I`m thinking of upgrading I`ll make sure I get a five year warranty then !!
