Argos So-So Easter Sale (£0.00)

Batavia (Elite) posted this on Wednesday, 2nd April 2003, 00:51

The sale is neither here nor there, but if you look carefully many are marked up at £0.00 and available as such.
I know we have been here before, but worth a try. I have ordred three, so see what happens. Bbnkrupt if they charge me the full cost though.

It must`ve been sorted.

I hope you get charged the full amount for every single Best of Rick Astley cd you ordered! ;-)

But if you do get something for nothing, then fair play to you. After all, Rick Astley really is good for nothing.

It was "The Greatest Story Ever Told", "The Vikings" and "Khartoum".
Alas, they found me out. Just received this e-mail:

Thank you for your order attempt.
Unfortunately due to some system changes that are occurring with Argos
Entertainment this order has been automatically cancelled.
This is due to a technical error that has occurred due to a faulty switch
procedure as the order transposes across from www.argos-entertainment onto our order system.
I apologise for any inconvenience caused in this matter and you should you still desire your order please re place this as the error has now been
resolved.
If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us either
via e-mail at tnemniatretne[at]ku.oc.sogra or by phoning 0845 120 4360.

Bummer mate, did they cancel the order out-right then, or are you gonna have to pay full whack?

The cancelled the order outright, with the option to reorder, meanwhile the prices were rectified.
Now they have "no knowledge" of my order number (huh, I have an e-mail acknowledging it!)..
Hmmmm.

Latest e-mail, I guess this is the end of the line on this one:
Thank you for your e-mail.
Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience that has been incurred as a result of a technical fault at the time you were placing your order. We are unable to resurrect this order due to the nature of the technical fault, you will need to place your order again now that the system is up and running as normal. Please advise what it is you mean by `honouring` this order.

Why do people carry on trying to get the goods for the lower price when they retailer has said sorry we made a mistake. The price shown is an invertation to treat and is not binding. No contract is made untill the retailer acsepts your offer to buy at the advertised price.

I like a deal to but when it is an obviously a mistake let it go.

It amazes me that everyone knows "thier rights" without ever having been on a training course for what is a very complex legal minefield. But they have been told by thier mate "Dave"

I am not having a go, I just don`t get it.

Just a thought, for a sales contract to be compleated surely money must of chaneged hands. If the price is £0.00 how money change hands?

All the best,

The 42%er.

If they make a mistake in a shop, a pricing ticket, by law they have to sell it to you at that price.
Besides, I have had quite a few stuff free, or vastly cheaper off the Net (Amazon, Mobile Shop and Splash spring to mind) because of errors. thay have all honoured the mistake.
So, `tis always worth a try. Saved a packet this way.
Then leave it if it doesn`t work (AFTER challenging them at least once, which I have had to do on all the said mentioned stores).
Gotta be in it to win it.

To The 42%er.

Time for a new keyboard or new hands..................Also, do you have to sign off `all the best` everytime?................Just sounds so naff........................yes, yes, I know. No need to be personal, etc etc, blah-de-blah.........oh yes, one other thing though, some good points, and I agree with you, it`s time to stop `hounding` companies who make a mistake, before we drive them all out of business. Roger.
