Correct me if I`m wrong but cheapest I have seen.

Problem is it is from Techtronics! who don`t have the best record.

What other good firms would price match?

I spoke too soon I think? Not Multi-region I think?

I just phoned "Digital Point" who could not go lower than £319 and then "Discount Audio Vision" said that Techtronics model was a "grey import", is that true? They would not price match.

Should I risk buying from Techtronics? I know 2 people who have bought from them with no problems.

I ordered one of these from Techtronics.

Not only were the staff polite and very helpful. The guy on the mail order line went through all the other options of DVD based recorders.

I settled on the Panny after they dropped the price to sub-£300. It came in super quick time, A1 for service, a free DVD-RAM disk in the box, plus this piece of kit is awesome. Recording quality and user interface is superb. Worth every penny.

If only everything was half price at Woolies !

As you get one free DVD-ram with the recorder I think I will get one double sided DVD-Ram disc in a caddy and a few DVD-R`s to back-up my 13 hours of camcorder footage I did in Australia.

I have have bad experences with CD-RW so would prefer some in caddys for now as I feel they need the extra protection to keep them working for many years. Even minor scratchs over time would make them unusable. May get some caddyless later. Only £2.98 each at Blankdisc.co.uk.

Guys, I`m also thinking of buying this model as my video is on the way out and can`t see any point replacing it with another. I apologise for my lack of knowledge on this but can you record on both formats i.e. ram and dvd-r? Also can you connect this to a tivo machine? I don`t have sky plus and don`t plan to until they scrap the monthly sub!! Any advice welcome! Is this the machine for me ? Not interested in the home camera scene so just curious to archive stuff off sky/tivo etc Thanks.

dvdram is a rewriteable format which will only play in a dvdram player u can write/rewrite up to 1000 times on these discs dvd-r is a write once format best thing to do if your right into dvd editing back ups etc is to buy a dvdram writer/drive for your pc as well have the best of both worlds imagine 4.7gb worth of mp3s on a dvdram disc playing from your e50 through yer home cinema you wont be dissapointed the e50 is an excellent machine i bought mine from digital-point last week for £309 dvd recording is the way to go without doubt u can connect your tivo up to it as well and store your hdrive stuff over to recordable dvd :-)

No sky here mate.Only got 25" TV as well.

I bought mine mainly to use like a VCR as we never seem to watch the last program on a tape so get left with programs all over the place. End up opening a new tape! Have over 300 now!! I will be glad to bin them! Will be nice to be able the record and play at the same time!

I have just ordered 1 4.7GB and 1 double sided 9.6GB at £5.99 and £9.99, cheapest I could find. Also a DVD-R trial pack so I can test a few discs myself.

I have read that DVD-Rams should be able to RW about 100,000 times! I doubt it! I have had CD-RW fail after one erase!
