Was in the store the other day and saw The Bourne Identity and Murder by Numbers for £8.99 each, with Psycho (The Hitchcock Collection) for £7.99.

Is it just me that has become greedy or does £8.99 not seem like such a bargain these days? (Probably a thread in it`s own right!)

It`s a good high street price. It surely must be the mad internet prices for new releases from the States/Canada that has corrupted my thinking!

When every new release is £8.99 I`d be happy!

When you can pre-order brand new R2 DVDs for £9.99 delivered then £8.99 seems quite expensive... especially since it was only £4.99 a couple of weeks ago at GAME (well, The Bourne Identity at least).

Yeah, £8.99 is quite expensive to us Net users - but to people who don`t use the Internet for shopping, then that high street price is very good.

GAME, Asda, Tesco and even Wh Smiths are cheaper than that usually... and I`m talking about the high street!

Only to the HMV regulars could £8.99 be called "cheap" ;)

Yeah, aside from their sale prices occasionally, they are way overpriced.

I got the Matrix + Revisited from HMV for £9.99 - thats excellent value for money.

People will pay what they think is a good price at the time.

The main reason I don`t use internet companies is their speed. I would rather pay a tiny bit extra to have it in my hands right away. Returns are easier too if you buy from a shop.

However, discovering less than two months after buying alias S1 that amazon has it for half the price I paid pees me off.

But if you pre-order your DVDs on the internet, not only are they at least a couple of quid cheaper, you usually get them before the release date. Fair enough, if you`re browsing a shop and you see something, you might as well just buy it if it`s a fair price.

And I admit HMV`s sales are getting better, but their back catalogue stuff is always full price, ie. £19.99 or £24.99 for single and two disc sets, and you can get them off Play for £6.99 delivered!

Ah, but I never buy DVDs new if I can help it. The reason being in six months they`ll be in a sale for half the original price(Indiana Jones Trilogy one example of this at Game). BTTF was also around for £15 for quite a while, but it seems to have gone back up to £30 now.

I agree, the internet has better prices - its just not worth the extra bother for a £2 or £3 saving(look at splashDVD!).
