RE: info please on what must i do and see in new york ....
You`ve got to do the City Tour Bus Multipass. They`re not like the crap you get in London - they actually have some interesting characters who give you the tour of the City and you can jump off and on as you please. Costs $50 which includes all 3 loops of New York which are Upper Manhattan (inc Central Park, Harlem, Empire State, Chrysler, United Nations etc.), Lower Manhattan (most of the sights, easy access to Ground Zero, Battery Park, Ferries, China Town, Italian Quarter) and Brooklyn which has some interesting sights. You also get the Night Tour for the money which is excellent because they take you over the Brooklyn Bridge and onto the Brooklyn Docks for that magnificaent view of the city you see in films.
Empire State - but don`t waste your money on the skyride/simulator thingy, it`s pretty poor and lasts no longer than 3 or 4 minutes.
Got to go to Grand Central Station just to see how huge the place is, couldn`t find those steps from The Untouchables when I was there unfortunately!
Staten Island Free Ferry which passes right by the Statue of Liberty.
Ground Zero
If you want to buy DVD`s, Music etc. I`d avoid Virgin on Times Square and look for Tower Records. Can`t remember where they all were but there`s definetly one on the lower floor of Trump Tower which is worth going into just to see the 200ft indoor waterfall, + if you`re a fan of The Apprentice you have to go!
RE: The Cinema Poll - I`m Staggered!!!
I`ve only been to the cinema twice in the last three years - the "Local Multiplex" is 47 miles away - I just can`t be bothered. :/
The cost in fuel alone makes it cheaper waiting for a disc from Canada! :D
RE: Your Team`s Worst Player! the list.......Do U Agree?
As a Blackburn suporter I agree with Kevin Davies - a fat waste of space who cost us £7.5 million or £3.75 million per goal.
We could have a very long list though - Ashley Ward, Nathan Blake, Marcus Bent, Dwight Yorke, Corrado Grabbi........
RE: Doctor Who and Sky Plus conspiracy!!
Hmm.. anyone else thinking that the timelord is wanting us to buy the expensive DVD`s that are to be released? ;)
Football Manager 2005 (PC) now £17.49
This has been reduced at WOOLWORTHS during their Easter Sale. Good price and probably reduced due to Championship Manager 5 being recently released. Not sure which one`s best but apparently the Football Manager game is Champ Man in all but name.
RE: Best song Intro?
Off the top of my head:
Paranoid - Black Sabbath
Sweet Home Alabame - Lynnyrd Skynyrd
Sweet Child Of Mine - Guns n Roses
Daytripper - Beatles
Smoke on the Water - Deep Purple
......the list could go on and on!
RE: If Michael Jackson is convicted, will his music go the way of...
He`ll get away with it I think.
The Titles of his albums will probably sum up the decision.
Michael Jackson is THE ONE that is BAD, DANGEROUS and most definetely OFF THE WALL.
But it`ll probably be proven in court that someone`s trying to get him for his money, he`ll get off on a technicality proving he`s INVINCIBLE, and the whole thing will be HISTORY! :D
RE: SPOILER WARNING!! Yeah like blackburn
Seeing as there`s already some very childish comments, I`ll add one.
"On the deck football" shouldn`t be a problem for Leicester next year - most of the clubs in league 1 don`t have stands so they`ll have to play it on the floor to avoid the crosswinds. :D
RE: Telesales Calls - bit annoyed???
It`s the foreign ones that really make me mad. >:( I will hang up instantly when it`s obvious that it`s a foreign call centre.)
Any company that`s ousourcing jobs, therefore depriving British people of jobs while exploiting 3rd world countries for cheap labour won`t get any of my custom.
Got to feel sorry for the people working in the Indian call cantres as well - the minimum requirement to work in a call cantre is a University degree (:¦ Mind you they probably get paid more than most people in the country.
RE: SPOILER WARNING!! Yeah like blackburn
Well i`m a happy Blackburn fan. :D
S***e game, the game should`ve been wrapped up a long time before the 83rd minute. Had to ask myself whether both teams understood that there was a semi-final place up for grabs: the tempo of the game was more suited towards a 3rd round carling cup match on a chilly winter night.
There were a few mistakes from the officials, and a dubious ,prehaps? - But we were the only team in it for a long part of the game.
RE: Recent School Uniform-
Society is ineed turning into a farce. Nobody can do anything anymore because somebody is always going to play the race/religion card. Britain is turning to sh*t because nobody is is prepared to speak out - and if they do they`re treated like they are a member of the BNP. >:(
That was a great point to open up this discussion - seeing as Jedi is an official religion why don`t we all send our kids to school dressed as Obi-Wan, and give them a toy lightsaber to whack other kids over the head with! :D If sikhs can carry knives due to their "religion" then lightsabres should surely be legal.
RE: Latest 3 contract deals
I`ve just got a contract phone on 3. Prehaps not the cheapest tariff, it`s £20month on talk and text 200. That`s 100 text and 100 xnet/anytime minutes a month. The first month is free.
I`m a very casual user so it roughly works out at the same price as these 3/6 month half price deals and then £30/35 a month thereafter, although I`d obviously be getting more minutes with these tariffs.
I got the Motorola E1000 free which is fab (apart from poor battery life) and the 3G is good - although it would be very expensive if you were to take advantage of content.
Got it from www.phones2udirect.co.uk (don`t mind plugging them because touch wood nothing has gone wrong, and the delivery was in less than 24 hours.
RE: 24 Season 4
You`re not alone Robotech - I live in North Wales, but it might as well be mongolia as far as broadband is concerned. >:(
RE: HELP !!! I`m the best man and need a speech
Keep it simple is the best advice I can offer. Make it personal, use some humour - but it won`t be the place to tell any embarassing tales, there`s always someone who`s going to be offended, and whilst you might get some laughs, you`r guaranteed to be hated forever by the bride, parents, old aunties etc.
If you DO want to get yourself disowned from your friends and family do this:
Prompt someone to get up and announce your impending speach. They announce to everyone: "<name> is now going to deliver his speach, and the topic he has chosen is sex..."
You get up and say "It gives me great pleasure.." and promptly sit down. :D
RE: Everton fans - a discrace and a joke!!
I know the thread is concerned with Everton but I`d also like to comment on the disgraceful actions of the Burnley fan at yesterday`s game. What a complete wt[at]. Not only did he try and have a go at the Rovers players (namely Savage(what a surprise)) but he then thought it would be clever to smack a policewoman in the face and then run away.
Unforunately didn`t make it to this game-weren`t many tickets going for us away fans but from what I saw on TV it`s yobs like this who should be banned from football.
Of course it`s mostly Burnley FC`s fault - proving once again what a second rate club they are in allowing a streaker on the pitch, the idiot mentioned above as well as another clown at the end of the game. As has been said in the papers today, someones going to get stabbed or worse one of these days.
We`re going to end up with Chicken wire around the pitch if people don`t wisen up a little and enjoy the game for what it is.
RE: Which city will win the race to host the 2012 Olympics?
I think it will probably go to New York. It will be in the tenth year since Sept 11th 2001, albeit only by a month or two if it`s held in July/August.
At the end of the day I don`t think it should go to London - anything that involves the United Kingdom plowing money onto something that`s only going to benefit the people of London shouldn`t be allowed in my opinion. If the Government have such a great traffic infrastructure as they claim, they should spread events all over the place, including Wales, Scotland and Ireland - after all it`s the British Bid.
RE: Moaning Man Utd fans
They should just ban Football clubs from being PLC`s in my oppinion - but it`s not going to happen.
Unfortnunately all football fans have to take the up`s and downs of the modern game.
Man Utd seem to have been a victim of their own success here - on and off the pitch. Their moderate success in breaking the U.S market has well and truly affiliated the club with Soccer in the U.S and as far as ignorant americans are concerned, they are the only footy team that exist in England. Glazer has obviously been drawn to them because of this - he wants the American soccer market, and the kudos from the yanks that he will achieve if he `owns` them.
RE: What/who do U think is the most overated popular song/artist/band ever.
Band - U2 Don`t get me wrong - I love their music and I`m going to two of the summer gigs, but IMO they`re extremely overrated.
Artist - Paul McCartney Only like the Beatles stuff when he sings live - most of which was written with Lennon, everything else he`s done has been pretty poor.
Song - Wonderwall I`m a massive fan of Oasis - But this song was played to death, and was probably the worst song on Morning Glory,
RE: Come on folks, 35% of you can`t really want "heh, heh, I touched her boobies" as the next Presid
Everyone knows the election for US Presidency is the biggest popularity contest in the world. It doesn`t really matter who wins. The elected president merely wins the privelidge to be the official TV spokesperson for four years, while a bunch of people who you`ll never see make all of the decisions.
Just imagine how much worse things could be if Bush was actually making the decisions!
At least Arnie has some experience in front of the camera!
RE: Top 5 music DVD`s
Top 5
Queen - Live at Wembley
Eagles - Hell Freezes Over
Aerosmith - Live In Japan (Bootleg :D )
Guns n` Roses - Live At Wembley (Bootleg :D )
Manics - Millenium Gig (just because I was there!)
RE: U2 TICKETS GUARENTEED
Well just got my tickets for Cardiff.
I opted for the £40 tickets which go up to £50 with all the admin charges/splitting the fan club charges. These `cheap` tickets I suspect will require a telescope to see the band but nevermind.
I have no complaints with the £22 U2 fanclub membership if it means that Genuine fans get to see the band without having to pay extra to some scumbag tout/ebayer. After all it`s only around a £5 extra on the ticket price (if of course you bought the maximum of 4).
>:( What I AM p****d off about is the bloody £19 ticketmaster "admin" charge. Come off it, this is what the fan club perks should have been about, instead of nearly 12% of the total cost being an admin charge, the fan club membership could have been reduced to say a 5% surcharge >:(
Rant over!
Sorry to hear about so many people getting grief with the booking systems cock-up, hope you all get it sorted out.

RE: Another free dvd in Saturdays Mirror
"Duh - only if you buy 4 papers !!"
The only reason I raised the point was because these papers carry no such terms and conditions when advertising on TV, stating that it is only one free copy per paper. They use the term every reader, which is very ambiguous (seeing as you actually use the word "Duh" I`ll explain that it means vague) therefore they could potentially get into legal wrangles, although it would be highly improbable that anyone would actually argue this in a court of law.
Anyway, done with this thread now, so don`t bother turning this into a "flame" war.
RE: Another free dvd in Saturdays Mirror
Wow! Actually inside the paper for a change.
It`s not free for `every reader` if it`s not with the paper. And anyway 4 people read our paper so does that mean 4 copies?
It`s a pain when you find out you have to get it from Blockbuster (which for me is a 150 mile round trip) which would make it cheaper to buy off the internet.
Next week it`ll be:
" Free TV for every reader * " * Must collect in person from shop in Tokyo!

RE: Some cheapies at Woolies - incl. The Bourne Identity, Psycho and Murder by Numbers
Is it just me that has become greedy or does £8.99 not seem like such a bargain these days? (Probably a thread in it`s own right!)
It`s a good high street price. It surely must be the mad internet prices for new releases from the States/Canada that has corrupted my thinking!
When every new release is £8.99 I`d be happy!
RE: ***Latest Mobile Scam***
I got hold of Vodafone and Egg who both stated it was a police matter which they could only be involved with through me contacting the police who would then be in touch with them.
Vodafone have the number who called, but can`t do anything until police ask them for it. I haven`t had time yet. I must say that i`m a bit worried (or should I say, unkowledgable) about how I would be involved if any criminal conviction is made. Would I be required to travel to a court of law to provide evidence or would a written statement be acceptable. Also the fact that these fraudsters already had my name and address, so if they are part of a crime ring, could i end up getting into more bother than it`s worth?
At the end of the day, I suppose people like this will always get away with it if nobody complains about them, but I`d like an idea of what I`m getting myself into!
It`s the people that would fall for this kind of scam that I feel sorry for.
***Latest Mobile Scam***
Had a call the other day from some pathetic scammers
Claimed to be from Egg credit card company, a woman asked for me by my name and asked for me to acknowledge my address so they obviously have a list of details.
The woman said I had a card which I do not, with an outstanding balance of £759.00 was pushing for some personal banking details to which I hung up.
The pathetic thing was that there was a lot of pauses, and I could even hear a TV and somebody prompting this woman when she was `losing` me.
Anyway, just letting people know incase they phone you.
E-mailed Vodafone (they phoned my mobile - which was what I first thought was dodgy because I wouldn`t use that number on any forms) and Egg and they`ve said it is a police matter, so I`ve got to phone them before either can take any action.
RE: Fopp bargains : Cape Fear 3 DVD boxset £7; Hitchikers Guide 5-book box set £7

RE: Do ChoicesDirect steal money from consumers regularly?
Cheers everyone, I admit I shot my mouth off at the time by using the word `steal`! Still haven`t got hold of them and will send a letter recorded mail as suggested.
it`s such a pity that they`ve done this because I regarded them as the best R2 e-tailer from what I had previously experienced from them. As it goes PLAY will be receiving my custom from now on having far than surpassed `Choices` with their sale prices and having sorted themselves out with their deivery time.
Do ChoicesDirect steal (allegedly) money from consumers regularly?
Not happy with Choices Direct
Ordered 3 films in their "Buy 3 For £20" which turned out that they couldn`t be arsed programming their website to calculate, they just priced them at £6.67 so it`s actually 3 for £20.01.
Anyway I only received 2 of the 3 even though they said that all three were shipped in the same package. This was 8 days before christmas, I`ve sent 3 e-mails asking where the third one is to no avail. There customer services telephone is never answered either.
They have blatantly stolen money if they cannot be arsed fulfilling the order which pee`s me off.
Has this happened to anyone else? If so I want to get people to write into BBC Watchdog to sort these incompetent idiots out.
The trading standards offices are below my workplace so I`ll also see them when I start work again next week. (I`m sure they`d be interested in the pricing scam.)
