NEC E616V + £15 calltime for only £41.62

Dixons & Currys are now selling the NEC E616V for only £44.99 INCLUDING £15 calltime credit (used to be £20 more expensive). Using their well known 7.7% discount code (DCBYAW) you can reduce this to £41.62. For those who missed out on the Nokia 7600, this isn`t a bad alternative...and it`s certainly a much more sensible looking phone!

For those who don`t need extra PAYG calltime, Amazon sell this phone for £39.99 without the credit. However, for £2 extra at Dixons & Currys, surely the extra credit has got to be worth it?

How good is this phone?

Compared to the LG`s that should be on sale soon for only £20 more??

People generally prefer the LG but this may have more to do with NEC`s historic reputation for bad 3G phones than anything else - I think it`s also possible to unlock the LG without having to get the code off 3 whereas the NEC doesn`t yet have an unlock solution.

However, iIRC, the NEC has bluetooth built-in whereas the LG doesn`t and the E616V is an updated version of teh original E616 with the majority of the major problems associated with the original ironed out so reliability is probably much less of an issue now.

If you ask me, I think it`s a case of horses for courses.

FOOTNOTE: for those not in the know, it seems to be an open secret that the LG U8120 will soon be selling for £64.99, although it`s not yet known if that price is WITH or WITHOUT a £15 airtime credit.

hi, does anyone know if the NEC phone takes memory cards, or does it rely on built in memory & if so, how much memory is on board.

thanks in advance.
